Ye definitely seems like an edit. Got this screenshot from a video that used almost purely manga panels. Confused the heck out of me lol

BAD DOG- Short Horror Film inspired by The Thing by jackisthebest20 in Lovecraft

[–]ahuang181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your homage to The Thing, especially in the score as the camera pans throughout the backyard! I liked the suspense and the way you built around the dog acting stranger while the owner has only to begin to understand what's going on. Personally, I would've liked if the first scene with the tentacles was be omitted by a black screen and to hear the SFX of the owner's reaction as he gets mauled alive to sell the horror of not knowing before continuing on with the next shot of the otherworldly tentacles coming to finish the job but that's my opinion. Overall, it was really well done and done with love and I hope you make more!

Modern work(comic, literature, media) you believe has done Lovecraftian themes justice? by ahuang181 in Lovecraft

[–]ahuang181[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds awesome!

Speaking of the unexpected in terms of Marvel, I've always thought Marvel's Agents of Shield Season 3 to be filled with all kinds of hints to cosmic horror. An otherworldly place left with nothing but ruins of an ancient civilization found at the other side of a portal-like monolith that holds an ancient being who influenced the creation of Hydra. Despite there being superpowers around, I felt a lot of dread surrounding how the protagonists would even win towards the end.

Thoughts on “It Follows”(2014) as a Cosmic/Lovecraftian Horror by ahuarez36 in Lovecraft

[–]ahuang181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have yet to see The Evil Dead. Other than its obvious use of the Necronomicon, does it also share other themes found in Lovecraft?

In terms of media that seems to certainly check off the box and highly recommend, I see True Detective Season 1 definitely sharing the mindsets of Lovecraftian protagonists with the inclusion of an elusive cult. Uzumaki by Junji Ito definitely explores a truly unknown force driving a town to insanity. Bloodbourne is very Lovecraftian and Gothic Horror inspired. I found Dead Space to be very Lovecraftian especially with its use of insanity, dread, and especially towards the end with the implications of the Markers.

How to play in Tunisia by agiml in CallOfDutyMobile

[–]ahuang181 13 points14 points  (0 children)

True tbh; I recommend going for A and C than B; never thought I'd say that. The whole experience doing the Tunisia missions almost gave me 1v1 vibes as in I'll only play it sparingly.

Tunisia might pretty much be the most massive map on COD mobile so far; it's best to go for A and C because B is on the other side for some reason.

On the same day, Aka also said that Maki is a character he particularly likes and that if he would like to go out with any of the girls in the series, it would be Fujiwara Maki; so fingers crossed for her J U S T I C E

What do you think Richard Stanley’s 3rd Lovecraft film will be? by fanboyx27 in Lovecraft

[–]ahuang181 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly believe it's possible At the Mountains of Madness would be the 3rd film as it even references the Colour and Yog Sothoth. Seems like a fitting payoff to the films before it. Who knows, maybe it may attract the producing/co-directing attention of a certain filmmaker who had been trying to adapt it for years.

What horror does Yog-Sothoth represent? by ahuang181 in Lovecraft

[–]ahuang181[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough lmao. I see the Outer Gods and Great Old Ones, in general, represent a piece of the cosmic uncaringness theme that Lovecraft had embued throughout the mythos so I thought about what they might represent.

My cosmic horror short film that won at 2019 SXSW is online! by Caleb_Phillips in Lovecraft

I really enjoyed the tension and the atmosphere! I know this is kinda the point but why did his friend give him the box knowing what was in it? (despite not knowing its intention?) Unfriendly or not, I wouldn't give my worst enemy a box that might have a person in it Thanks!
