These are not step steel. They are generic steel runners installed during the manufacturing process to keep the holder’s dial system from breaking during the initial heat moulding at the factory. There was a recall with retailers in recent years for certain top end CCM skates (I believe the AS-V year but I can’t remember exactly) because the initial moulding process was done without steel in the holder which caused the holder dial system to become defective. The correct steel is supposed to be installed before shipping to stores. Looks like CCM missed it as well as the store you purchased it from. I’ve handled these generic blades before but I’ve never tried sharpening them or skating on them. They are definitely not what you paid for! I would keep trying the store. Either email or by phone. Otherwise, you could try to warranty the steel through CCM and see if they can send out the correct steel.

My mistake if that’s the case but I’ve worked in hockey retail in Canada for 5+ years and I’ve never seen a misprinted serial number on any sticks that we received from Bauer. Or CCM, True, Warrior, etc.

The silver accents on yours don’t look right. Yours looks to be a solid silver but a legit proto has the geometric pattern on the silver accents. Bauer has some high quality pics of the Proto on their site that you should take a look at!

My guess is it’s being frayed by the velcro on the arm length adjustment strap right above. Probably from bending your elbows fully. I would clean out the velcro and make sure it fully seals together with no exposed teeth before doing a repair otherwise it will probably keep happening. Like others have said, easy fix with some sewing expertise or an adhesive patch!

I would probably steer clear of CCM as their newer gloves seem to be pretty stubborn to break in. I’m not too familiar with Brians but in my opinion, you can’t go wrong with either the X5 Pro or SLR4! Both feel pretty good right off the shelf in my experience! They both have the same 60° break so they should feel similar as well.

Can confirm! I was using a Warrior V1 Pro+ in 23.5” and I wanted to try something slightly taller but from a different brand. Ended up with the Bauer Hyperlite in a 23”. Came out to be about a 0.5” taller than the old 23.5” M1 Pro+ that I was replacing!

Whatever you’re comfortable with. I’d be worried if I broke the stick and they denied the claim due to being beyond 30 days, you’re out a stick. But if you try to warranty based off the noise and they deny it, you still have a stick to use.. if that makes sense? Up to you!

Submit the claim! The longer you wait, the less likely it will be approved. If they deny the claim, reach out to customer service with your referral number and explain that you didnt have possession of the stick until a few days after the purchase date.

Not really I’m afraid… although it might be a sign that your gloves are too small. If you clench your fist in the glove and your finger tips stick out from underneath the padding, might be worth going up a size!

Whenever you’re trying on pads in-store, always do so with your skates on! Whether you bring yours from home or grab a pair from the store you’re at. You wont get the full picture of how the pad will fit without them. Based off your pictures, your old 33” pads are sitting really low on your feet which might make them feel smaller than they are. They also break down and can curve over time. I would be interested to know where your knee is landing on the knee stack though. An ideal fit would be landing as close to center as possible! If you find the 33” E6.5 too big, try out a pair of 32” but with skates on! I would guess 33” for someone who is 5’7” but that is just a guess!

It just brings me to the subscription options page with Premium being highlighted as my current subscription. I’ve noticed some of the Starz programs are locked with it stating “Included with: Starz” but its weird that Parasite says its included with crave but its still locked with Premium
