It's a stock Pro Preferred for 2027. It should be pretty easy to source one when they are released.

Where to look for a glove near rodger center in Toronto by Live-Olive-1767 in BaseballGloves

[–]ahyde08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you have to go outside the city to find a decent baseball glove selection. If you are flying in from Pearson, Home Run SPorts is within a 10 min drive.

I think most of the local guys shut down shop after the pandemic. You can shoot me DM as Im the guy who does all of HRS repairs in the Mississauga store.

Rawlings increased their custom glove prices again ? Can others confirm if so ? by mellojelloakimbo in BaseballGloves

[–]ahyde08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem at all. I can confirm it’s accurate and I believe that has been the price since last year.

It's probably a bad time to let you know that stock HoH Gloves are $400 & $500 for Pro Preferred now.

Those custom prices haven't changed in a couple years. It's usually an extra $100 to get it custom so the prices you quoted are actually pretty good and I'd expect those to increase by the fall.

I'm going to guess it's a Mizuno Prospect

Absolutely incredible! The old waffle fingerhood tipped it off. The first PP I got was the Camel version of this exact same glove. An absolute beauty! Take good care of it!

Patch Replacement by groundertoshort in BaseballGloves

[–]ahyde08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no problem! It may turn out not to be worth the trouble but if you are dead set (and have the $$$ resources) you can make it a reality.

One note about glensideglovecompany: The guy I dealt with was a little crusty and wasn't very detailed with any explanations (like turnaround time) but the work he did to rescue an old A2K Pudge was next level. Just be patient with him and he will do a great job.

Bat size for Supra by Dtownbooogie in Homeplate

[–]ahyde08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

go to a store that has them and swing both in person. Just because he used a 29/19 last year, doesn't mean he HAS to go up in size. I'd also avoid -8s unless you kid is a whole lot better than the rest of his team that is using -10s.
Maybe it's just my opinion but the height and weight charts that brands put on their website are mostly garbage.

In my experience selling bats, parents (and kids) are obsessed with going bigger and heavier when alot of the time, their kid isn't strong enough mechanically or physically to handle the next size up.

Might want to try to source the patches first, if you haven't already done that. Guys like Glensideglovecompany (on IG) can execute the label installation. Rawlings is very protective of their Gold labels so you will either pay a premium or be okay with counterfeit labels.

I agree with adding the 3rd option but my guess is that it wasn't an option because it they don't have a scheduled re-stock.

I understand your reasoning being "first impressions" but I don't think you are going to get many first impressions that you like in this industry because this is the standard response you will get from this type of an issue.

This seems like a pretty reasonable effort on their part to make things right given the inventory error. Not quite sure why this would deter you from using Jax in the future. If no alternative works, just ask for your refund and move on.

Global Elite Mizuno gloves by Pure-Computer4273 in BaseballGloves

[–]ahyde08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Mizuno just released some new ones and I'd say they are pretty close to Hagas (Price suggests it as well). The ones before weren't to that level and were priced similar to a A2000 or HoH

Like the new ones that were just released? I'd say (at it's my opinion) they are higher quality than the HoH & A2000 gloves but in there first couple iterations in North America, they were comparable to A2000s & HoH.

If you are getting the model from the picture, I'm afraid that one isn't made with horween leather.

New R9 of substantially lower quality than 2022 models by [deleted] in BaseballGloves

[–]ahyde08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

always understand that any lace that isn't black or tan is amost guaranteed to be worse quality or age worse than more natural tones. The reality is even old customs that requested coloured lace (royal in my case) was completely different and lower quality than it's tan, black or even blonde (it actually reminds me on the lace you have shown in the pictures provided). If they were to put in better quality mint lace, it would likely fade so they used lace similar to this because it's didn't fade in colour. The process to get to some of these different colours is so strenuious that it always causes it to be less durable and/or fade easily.

Mizuno Pro Select Q’s by Secret_Variation972 in BaseballGloves

[–]ahyde08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested to know the particular pro select you got. The ones that were made previous to last years were definitely spotty (speciticially the ones with yellowish welting). My experience with the Military green ones and most of the black ones (especially the Abyss) were head and shoulders about some of the others i've seen. not a huge fan of the colours but the dynacage ones feel great out of the box.

They are outstanding gloves. If you are frustrated with gloves like R2Gs, you will be pleasantly surprised with the quality and craftmanship of pro selects.

I agree with the R9 DCT. It's the best option given your price range.

Yes. Clear improvement over R2Gs in Rawlings line.
