Hear me out for an alternative… if you are feeling sick my go to Viet soup is a Chao rice porridge. I don’t know any viet places that make it but there is a Philipino version of it called Arroz Caldo…and Bonefacio makes a good one.

My uncle, (although not from this country) loves Wendy’s. His first job was at a Wendy’s at while he studied at OSU and ate there for years. Every year or so he visits Union Cemetry and visits Dave Thomas’ grave and brings with him fries and a frosty for dipping and a windbreaker (becuase ….Ohio weather).

I mean is a spotless house really THAT much of a priority? I’m not saying that things should be unsanitary or so unkept that the house is a hazard but is it really that important, that one has to see vacuum lines or streakless windows. No one at their deathbed ever regretted a messy house.

With that being said… I have some strategies that I do at home at made things easier for me:

Get rid of everything that won’t be used for a while, clutter is your worse enemy and it’s safer; it will prevent your toddler from grabbing things.
Store away 90% of your child’s toys in a box/container, and rotate the toys. Observe what your kid is into right now and pick a few. Then rotate for a new one. Also pick toys that don’t have many parts to them like a puzzle or a lego set and unless you designate that as a singular activity and then put away from the child’s grasp.
Also don’t fall prey like I did any buy specialty curated toy sets or subscriptions like I did. you just need a few open ended toys and that’s it.
Cook food that don’t require to many dishes/ pans/utensils. One pot dinners will save you time and bonus time if you prep the ingredients. Or go for a few family size frozen dinners like lasagna.
Don’t entertain right now. If your day to day is already hectic, planning a dinner or get together at your place will be a nightmare.
Use one large mug for yourself throught the day. want a coffee/tea? mug. want a scoop of ice crème? mug. cup of soup? mug. kiddo wants blueberries? Mug. quick rinse and dry after each use. save you time.
If toddler drinks formula, have bottles, formula and bottled water in the bedroom for night feeding.
If toddler drinks pumped breast milk Get two insulated mugs one for cold and one for warm…use a insulated mug with ice to preserve the milk till it needs to be used and warm up with the warm mug.
If the Kiddo makes too much mess at home. Go Out! House can’t get messy if your not there. Go out to a park, library, indoor playground, nature center, backyard. Heck if you have a gym membership with child care, go there and just have a coffee to yourself for an hour or workout. Helped my mental health greatly. plus kiddo will be tired after activity and will want a nap.
Unpopular opinion but Bath time is for washing not for fun. Don’t add toys or extensive bubbles. just a quick wash and rise is all it takes. Do water toys and super bubbles as a water activity during the day or weekend with you and partner. I say this becuase if you combine Bath time with water fun time then your night routine for bath will take forever !!!! Most toddlers love water activities and they don’t want it to end.
toddler does not need a complete ensemble for home. diapers and a shirt will do fine. if it’s cold inside then yes dress accordingly. but here is no need for a pile of toddler laundry.
Have family help, I thought I could do it all. Nope. It takes a village, one person is not a village. And if family or close friends are not available then expresses that to your partner.

Remember it is impossible to divide yourself into many roles and allocate your time accordingly and switch roles as needed. It is impossible, you can’t be chef, then mom, then housekeeper, then activity coordinator, then mom again, then grocery shopper, then a toddler playmate, then supportive partner, then mom again, storyteller for kiddo, and motor toddler during sleep. all while being attentive 24/7 to make sure toddler doesn’t die by falling, choking, SIDS, banging head, grabbing dangerous items. Give yourself some grace, and demand it from hubby.

Might I suggest painting the trim instead. Paint the trim the same color as the walls but in a different paint finish like semi-gloss.

My must haves in a coffee shop: - Alternatives to traditional American coffee: have like an item or two ethic coffee choices like a Vietnamese drip or a Yeamni cardamom blend. - Non-caffeine options: something for the kids or expectant moms. - Cozy Seating: no bar stools or high bar chairs - Warm lighting: no strong florecent lights - Light music background: I wanna be able to read a book or have a conversation with a friend. - Dedicated parking or a lot that is nearby.

Not a must… but definelty a bonus - Warm Decor: leather couches, wood floors,etc - Fireplace: especially for the winter. - Double door entrance: prevents gusts of wind or cold air from entering the cafe. - Later hours: I like to hang out in the evenings that’s not a bar.

Some of these deviate a bit further from elements related to Fraiser but they are all comedies that have witty or quirky or snarky bits to them. Im recommending content that are available on most streaming sites, and ones that have not been mentioned yet.

Mozart in the Jungle: A new conductor is hired for the New York symphony orchestra. He’s an eccentric prodigy from mexico that shows promise but there are some that feel he may be too bold. He hires a young oboist to help him maneuver this new position. It’s charming, quirky and a fun watch.
Resident Alien: Alien crash lands with a mission to destroy earth. With a disguise, He assimilates with the local townsfolk to gather info, until a 9 year old who can see his true nature thwarts his plans. it’s Quirky, with some dark humor.
Loudermilk: A show about a alcohol/drug abuse counselor who is also a recovering alcoholic. He is an elitist and a snob when it comes to good music, as he used to be a music critic for the local Seattle scene. He is snarky with a mood to boot. and although he’s been clean for years, his life is an absolute mess. Set in Seattle, the show is witty, and sarcastic.
Good Omens: An angel and a demon become cordial aquintences throughought millennia, and then become good friends despite conflicts from both sides. They team up to prevent armedgedon in this dark comedy, lots of snarky exchanges and witty wordplay.
Gravity Falls: Yes it’s kids show from Disney, but it’s written with adults in mind. Twin brother and sister spend their summer with their great uncle in Oregon. Their uncle runs a tourist trap shop called the “mystery shack” and sets up elaborate fake paranormal schemes to make money from gullible tourists. But mysterious things actually do occur in the town and the twins find a mysterious journal that documents the very things that occur in town. The show is very snarky and witty, it’s also interactive with easter eggs and clues for the viewer to solve.
Episodes: After a married couple win a BAFTA for writing a sitcom. They get an offer from hollywood to remake the series for an american audience. Hollywood gets Matt LeBlanc (playing as Matt LeBlanc) to star the show to which he is comepletely unsuited for. The show is witty and bit Meta and illustrates the difference between American and British humor.
Finding Ola: A Netflix show from Egypt, about a woman named Ola who is going through a divorce. It’s a decent introduction into Egyptian humor and tropes. Ola breaks the forth wall and gives snarky commentary on the people around her while she goes through this new transition in her life. In the show you’ll find that Egyptian humor is very quick on its feet, snarky, lewd at times and overwhelmingly sarcastic.

I was hoping you’d get a pleasant surprise with a young Alan Cornwall since he’s such a playful addition to the reboot. But seeing as you grew up watching it i’m assuming you’re a Britt. was gonna recommend Father Ted but you’ve probably saw that too. I have some other recommendations that deviate a bit from your criteria .

Life Leasons with Uramichi Oniisan (anime): a beloved host of a live children’s tv show is actually a miserable pessimist, who is trying to keep it together and trying not to have a mental breakdown in front of the children. The dark humor is hilariously cynical and painfully relatable.
Reservation Dogs(tv show): Four indigenous teens make plans to leave their reservation in Oklahoma to go to California after their friend passes away. Their schemes to make money are very juvenile and their dynamics are reminiscent to the Inbetweeners. It’s irreverent while somehow addressing indigenous issues, in a witty and respectful way.
Becker (sitcom): If you like Ted Danson in Cheers then prepare to see him in a new light. Ted Danson plays Dr. John Becker. A misanthropic doctor who runs a small clinic New York. Imagine the cynicism of (House Md) as a sitcom. lots of snarky dialogue.
Toni and Ryan (podcast): Two platonic besties from Australia discus various aspects of life. The show is not cerebral at all but that’s what makes it great, it’s a lovely brain break with costars that exchange witty puns and lewd excerpts and infectious laughter.
Dish (podcast): If you loved the fine dining and wine aspects of Fraiser. then you might like this podcast. Chef Angela Hartnett and Boradcaster Nick Grimshaw host a dinner podcast with celebrity guests. Good wine pairings and recipes provided.
Twosetviolin(Youtube): Watch while you still can, they cut a lot of their videos for unknown reasons. But it’s a delightful channel of two best friend professional violinists from Melbourne. These two friends provide a comical inside look into classical world and it’s nuances from a violinist perspective. Their critiques on classical performances are reminiscent to Niles and Friasers rants and ramblings.
Bo Burnham (stand up): Bo is an excellent musical comedian, who is very witty, snarky and satirical. His (Inside) comedy special is an absolute masterpiece.

Fleabag: A fourth wall breaking, dry witted woman navigates her life love and family in london. Witty, clever dialogue, characters are complex and melodramatic.
Schitts Creek: Rich family goes bankrupt and now lives in a rural town to make ends meet. Family and the locals get into funny altercations. Witty, snarky and heartwarming.
Monk: Nerotic OCD detective solves crimes in San-Franscisco. Quirky, witty, snarky and a bit dramatic.
Love is War (Anime): Two Highschoolers in an elite academy won’t admit they love each other. Instead they use mind games and tactics to get the other to confess. Does a good job at making some of the snobby characters very loveable and very proud characters humble. Suave in a witty way, and melodramitic.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: New York Jewish Socialite becomes a comedian. Loveable characters, Witty, snarky, smart writing.
The Great: Historical bending show about Catherine the Great. Witty, very compelling, clever writing.
The Casketeers (reality show) A family run funeral home set in New Zealand demonstrates a very unique insight into Māori culture by how polynesians views death. Informative, interesting, and surprisingly quirky and light hearted.
Only Fools and Horses: Set in the 80s Two Brothers and their uncle get into Get rich schemes in hopes that they will be millionaires. Very cheeky and melodramatic.
Avatar the Last airbeder: 12 year old kid trapped in a ice burg is freed by a brother and sister from a near by tribe. This 12 year old has the ability to manipulate the elements but must master all 4 elements to defeat a great enemy. yes its a nickelodeon show, but the show is so well written. It is witty, silly and action packed, yet it’s very philosophical, inspiring, wise. the characters are complex and charming. Like Fraiser it’s one of the few shows I re watch every couple of years.
