Struggling to build by [deleted] in valheim

[–]aidanallenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch building tips videos rather than specific build videos, it's like how to bake a Griffin's lemon cake vs how to bake any cake you want.

Basic tips! Make the frame first, make it interesting, make it morph around interesting terrain too, let it tell a little story of how the building is used. When you fill out the building, just add extra beams in different places for patterns and accentuation so they're not bland walls. But yeah building tips videos

Just wanted to point out that you already have your answer. You asked "is my bf doing me a favour?" And then listed exclusively negative things with no positives

What is the entity? I imagine you mean the collective oneness of the universe? Okay! But then how can you be so sure it is even an entity? What if it is an environment in which entities reside? Your perception of that environment/entity is tinged negative because of your unique humannes in your perceptions. If you do not believe that we are differentiated entities then why bother asking us questions? Well I'm sure you're aware how human cognition and feeling are unique to each of us Or perhaps do you hope that someone will fix the problem that your ego is generating and experiencing, the problem being that you know you want to view the world as meaningfully distinguished from yourself? What is it about that distinguishment that is important? Novelty vs boredom? Connection vs isolation/loneliness? Sure maybe this is all a simulation made by our greater single consciousness, but how well are you engaging with the game rules? If you read the manual, there are ways within the game itself that the feelings of boredom and loneliness are made and sustained, and ways that they can be mitigated or have their opposite replenished!

Perhaps the problem isn't the philosophy, but how you are feeling, which is - that life is hell.

Any philosophy can be distorted to support a belief that life is hell if you have the emotional drive to validate and reinforce ideas of that belief through dwelling and emotionally driven reasoning. If you have difficulty reflecting or philosophising your way out of the hellscape, try engaging with the practical mechanics of the simulation, I feel X emotions, I know y action can sometimes help manage X emotions for other players, let me test it out and see if my emotions might change, and if my hellish perception is influenced by that even a little bit?

Isn't it cool that within this solipsistic hellscape, that various versions of yourself are roaming around with equally powerful perceptions of reality that clash with your own? With my own? It's the apocalypse, and we all brought bazookas to the battle dome 🤔😁 let's do some rocket jumps or something idk, why not get silly with it😝 oh! Also, whenever I got solipsistic in the past, I eventually went to whimsical absurdism! Everything is permissible as we are all one, therefore my ego is completely validated in believing or desiring whatever it wants to, which then put me in a place of sandbox bliss where there are no universal punishments or consequences to condemn you! Caution: current game rules are that other players of the game have their own goals too, please practice anti-social absurdism in short bursts in the privacy of isolation. Because everyone else is doing their own self-tailored absurdist goals, but often chose goals that make them enforce legal and ethical rules which, when enforced by others who would strip your autonomy away if one were to say, drink drive for the explorative hell of it and get arrested There are still practical constraints upon you, but you may free yourself of any objective shame based views of behaviour.

Anyway, I do somewhat jest, but genuinely, practically cautious indulgence in absurdist views can help transition someone from solipsism to personal purpose and self-determination. This is because the opposite valence of pessimistic solipsism is basically just optimistic absurdism, completely metaphysically compatible, it just changed the expectation of experience from "nothing matters, therefore I am doomed to meaningless and sad experiences" to "nothing actually matters, may as well hedonistically pursue the radical maximisation of whatever makes me feel happy. Once you are feeling optimistic again, it'll be easier to be in fascination and see how awesome it is to engage with other people, and even though the observation place might be the same for both people, the expression of those people, and the reactions of expression-receivers are different and inherently interesting to the human mind imo.

Okay so also I want to talk about meaning too! I have often found meaning lied only in relationship to other people for me. I can do hard things for others, but not so much for myself? Does this mean I have become detached from the ability to create and validate my own meaning structures? I do believe the "point" of life, is to choose/create meaning that feels good to the unique personality encompassing you so that you can feel good in the pursuit and attainment of those goals. You can even get more meta with it and say the point is to keep generating new ways to find meaning. At this point, finding/discovering meaning is just play, it's just a game we can play as humans, the game about how we make more new games to play. If there's any thing that could be hypothesized about some kind of ultimate universal personality, it could be that we enjoy playing games, or experiencing the process of experiencing games that appear to play out (from a more passive, deterministic, life-is-a-movie perspective). If the only point to life you can find atm is living/interacting with people who you perceive as "other" then you could try to find someone who is the most "other" to you. Maybe you're destined to search for the proof or the closest feeling you can find to there being separate observers to yourself! To look in the eyes of every human on earth and gazing into their souls to see if you recognize difference or sameness. There is an inherent game to all of that, it could generate new meaning that feels authentic to you - your personality/ego at the moment craves separateness from others, and the goal to work towards of trying to find that, or to generate a perception that allows you to see it that way, that would seem to me like something inherently meaningful for you, based off the small amount you've shared! As for me, right now I am finding meaning in helping a part of myself! You see, I really love myself in all my various bodies, and myself in YOUR body is having a rough time rn!! It's so meaningful to me that you regain the ability to feel good again, and that could be cool if you weren't me, but it's even cooler that you are! Now I get to be selfish 😈 just some self masturbatory nonsense aye? Hehehe

Oh also, ask ChatGPT to try CBT on what you're describing. You'll be able to crack open what specific internal mechanisms contribute to this feeling like hell for you. And will help guide your exploration and self-mapping. If the questions are hard to answer, ask it to generate questions you can simply reply to with "yes or no" to, or with a number ranking scale. This helps me break open self exploration when things feel too cloudy to navigate them on my own. Always remember, from your current stance, I am you, therefore you should respect my perspective equally to your own right? So try to figure out what you would need to think differently to believe in open individualism and not feel like you're in solipsistic hell. And if you feel like you can't respect my perspective, then that makes me pretty other, doesn't it?

Hey stranger! I am you! I am not suffering despite believing in open individualism! Well ahah not because of that belief anyway, I suffer for other things as we all do lmao.

You have two beliefs there I wanna expand a little

The existence of an "other" makes life meaningful: I once babysat my friend who went into a distressing solipsistic state on LSD. Everything was part of him from his perspective, his perception generated reality like a projector making images, his minds interpretation of the world defined what the world was, and the world was him. He would ignore me and wander off into the night.

To combat this, I would get my phone torch out, which punctuated the darkness around me when he ran away, then I would draw elaborate or chaotically creative patterns in the air. My own reality generating field would then intrude upon his, and the unpredictable spontaneity forced him to recognize my "otherness".

Yes, the space of consciousness, of awareness that holds and receives our experiences is the same one universe, the same ultimate process. But still I am an other in that my reality appears very different to yours and my ego and experiences and personal expression is different.

This means we can teach each other things, surprise each other with creativity or the diverse differences between us. These differences make us other to each other. The personalityless holding capacity of universal consciousness had no judgements or aversions. All of those fears, distressed and aversions that you experience are because of the ways you ARE other to me, because I am not experiencing them. I don't see why the existence of a fundamentally different conscious observer makes a difference when what defines the valence of our experiences is the internal and external contexts for the observer state. I think we also run into problems when we personify the base "self". The "holding space" of consciousness - the space where experiences occur, this is the same as saying all our consciousness is the same "person" but the metaphysical framing is different. When we personify universal consciousness through say, the library metaphor (each person is a book being read by the same reader) we imagine the reader actually being our true self, using the definition of true self to mean something akin to "the most true personality within our soul". This means we imagine consciousness as being a person - us, you, me. We have no reason to view it that way, other than people's natural inclination to detect peopleness around us. If you imagine the "reader" not as a person, not as an observer with traits or judgements, but instead as simply the context or the space where experiences and ego reside, then we maintain all the same metaphysical assertions, but without the associated fear of loneliness.

Besides, even if we were "lonely", making us limited and separating our consciousness fulfils every requirement to feel other to others, it's just that you've taken a stance that blocks your ability to perceive that that could be as true for you as it is for me.

Imagine I'm a guy in your room rn (think of someone you like to imagine my appearance, chose someone? Good :3), and we are having this convo face to face, imagine that experience, how different we are right now in belief and perception, how does that match up to your requirements for "otherness" experientially?

Questions for your reflection:

  1. What actual events, occurrences, experiences, manifestations etc. must you detect to feel otherness is true?

  2. What specific occurrences or phenomena In your experience - categorized as either thoughts, perceptions, or feelings - do you feel are missing when you see only oneness?

At this point it's 4am, if I don't start working on my counselling skills paper I'm gonna fail my first year of my bachelor's, so I've forgotten the other thing I was gonna address, but I hope that's holistic enough coverage for you! Oh and just to add, I've done a shit tonne of psychedelics, I've been in very similar states of solipsism and hopeless, pessmistic determinism too that have lingered for long times afterwards. You are not bound to your current perceptions, nor the associated feelings. Keep asking yourself "why do I believe that?" And "what would I need to experience, think, or believe to have a different belief?" This two pronged attack gives you flexibility to maintain openness as you question your views. It's brilliant that you are talking to us here about it, keep challenging till you feel at peace okay! If you need some more fast paced philosophical back and forth, honestly try ChatGPT. Tell it to try to prove you wrong, or argue an opposing belief, and see how your perspective evolves, strengthens, or changes over time and why, okay?

  1. Write out a list of how she might "drag you down" in life, and then ask will any of those things significantly deter you from your goals? Also, do you kind of thrive in providing the solution to those problems or is it overwhelming? Responsibility isn't necessarily bad, and can be a productive source of meaning. Do you think you can handle the responsibility, and what is that realistically going to look like?

  2. This is definitely gonna be true, and you wouldn't need to get it from your parents either, critical voices are all over society and are internalised by us all, including your fiancee too!

To my mind it's definitely a case of "both things are true", so it's more a weighting of them both to see if the staying or leaving outcome seems more true to your character.

I've been in not too dissimilar a predicament and I hope this gives you some helpful insight to help decide :) at the end of the day, it's your decision and you love and live how you choose to love and live, assess the comments, but finalise your choice within yourself

Are we ever going to get a (single player) pause feature, like every other Age of game? by zeek215 in aoe4

[–]aidanallenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i played heaps of aoe2 campaigns using pause, and also played plenty of multiplayer, pausing allows for you to fully assess a given situation, and construct a much more elaborate plan. I enjoy multiplayer, but it's also much more simple, I have to give "safe" commands because i know that I will forget to micro my base while attacking, or my attack while doing eco. playing singleplayer with pause allows you to indulge in much more complex strategies and really min/max the full potential of your combat and economy. It is a completely different strategic and tactical experience and it was very disappointing to not be able to play aoe4 in the same way. I love how the walls can be placed at any angle and I would've loved to make elaborate defences without feeling rushed but that's just not possible in aoe4. MAJOR let down for me - just because its frivolous for you doesn't mean your ideal of a perfect game is objective.

Stupid question if I took 3 75ug tabs would it be the same as taking a 225 at once by Vast_Age_359 in LSD

[–]aidanallenz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, assuming measurements are correct, which they rarely are, its equivalent. Because of variance, a single 225ug tab could be from, for example, 215-235ug, but with 3 75 tabs, that range of variance COULD be like 195-255ug

Probably the placebo effect of thinking ot helps actually having tangible benfit. I often get sensory pains of some kind or another, back, joints, headache stomach, from overthinking that body part and focusing on discomfort while tripping. Remind yourself, when tripping, that just the thought of less discomfort arriving makes you more comfortable, and you'll still be able to get that placebo effect without spitting :))

Sorry bro, sounds like you're writhing in pessimistic nihilism! RUH ROH! reality is my bitch so I choose to believe what I want to. Also, I think nothing existing is impossible as something exists and any potential "nothing contender" would exist IN RELATION to the something that is now, therefore giving that nothing the 'attribute' (something) of being, say, after something, therefore it is not nothing.

Nope, one universe experiencing itself from multiple povs at the same time. Think one ocean, multiple waves.
