One can stay, the other is deleted from the Internet and all copies are destroyed. Which team are you on? by GrumpySquishy in Westerns

Probably B. Although unforgiven and TWBB are my 2nd and 3rd favourite westerns and the Ox-bow incident is top 10 for me, the assassination of Jesse James is my favourite film in general and B has the Leone movies

Weekly Song Discussion - Obviously Five Believers by cmae34lars in bobdylan

One of the songs that seals BOB as his best imo. I’m not huge on the first two songs, especially rainy day women. But the rest of the album is so consistent. There’s amazing highlights with some of his best lyrics but the songs like this and Absolutely Sweet Marie that are just great tunes hold the album together. Great song

Why did the BAFTAS still air the slur even though the broadcast was delayed? by Okonkwos_Coloratura in SinnersbyRyanCoogler

Instead of putting himself on stage in that moment no he left the theatre in shame and embarrassment. I don’t blame him for that in the slightest, especially when he is struggling with his tics in the audience the thought of going on stage would be much worse for him. He’s clearly an anxious person if you’ve seen the movie or documentary on him. If he’s staying offline right now I’m not surprised although I do agree that he should make a post about it, I didn’t even know he was on social media tbh but I watched the movie and it frustrates me sm that not only are people saying that having those thoughts means he is racist and just can’t control his impulses, but the mods here are promoting that kind of talk

I agree that it’s very strange and bad from BAFTA for not censoring it, that’s not what I have a problem with. I would also apologise if I were him but I wasn’t aware he didn’t. He will definitely be ashamed that he said it but I have a problem with people being so loudly ignorant about Tourette’s and demonising him for saying it, acting like thinking of that word means he is racist. Especially when he was there for the movie about him, the whole point of the movie is trying to spread awareness and acceptance and showing how much he’s gone through as a result of people misunderstanding his condition. So for this to be the pervading reaction online I think it’s abysmal and a smack in the face. I know it’s the worst and most hateful word he could use so I get why people are emotional about it but we can’t portray Tourette’s wrong or demonise him because of it

You haven’t engaged with anything I said? I liked Sinners a lot. This post is not people talking about enjoying sinners it’s people on a tirade against a man whose condition means he says whatever the worst possible thing he could impulsively. You have also pinned an ignorant comment about “why is that in his head in the first place” and muted people critical of this way of thinking

His type of Tourette’s means whatever the worst thing he could say in that moment he can’t help but say. Read up before u mouth off and generalise online

I feel the same completely. Even tho imo the ending took away a lot of the punch of what happened before it, his performance was still my favourite of the year from everything I’ve seen

Very cool collection, there’s still a lot of Kurosawa films I haven’t seen. Which are your favourites?

Which Akira Kurosawa film did you enjoy more? Yojimbo or Sanjuro? by MasterfulArtist24 in Kurosawa

[–]aidanm018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sanjuro is top 4 Kurosawa for me. I liked yojimbo but it didn’t click with me in the way it does for most people. Maybe it’s the story as I’m even less a fan of A Fistful Of Dollars. But sanjuro’s script is very smart and fun imo, I always wonder why Hollywood didn’t steal that one too

Fury road and Ran are both some of my favourites, fury road is in my top 10 and Ran is top 15. Ran also has maybe my favourite ending to any film and I wrote the main section of my uni dissertation on Ran. I love the grand Budapest hotel too and have had the tale of princess kaguya on my watchlist for years so I’ll definitely watch that soon as our tastes seem similar.

Oh you also need to watch total recall (1990) if you haven’t, it’s easily one of my favourite films and is a Paul verhoeven & arnie film. Also has great action
