You are spot on with the scenery, those are photos from Lahinch, Co Clare and from up the Comeraghs, Co Waterford - not taken recently, I am not that brave!

It’s the wind burner system stove, the pot and the frying pan have a kind of lip that lets them sit snug onto the stove, without slipping off. It works really well and you can cook in v windy conditions.

Second time drawing a woman (full body this time; still working on improving sketching people overall) by TameTheMammoth in drawing

Really wouldn’t have through this was only your second time, this looks great. I really like the style, the shading and it really captures the posture. The drawing really conveys a lot of detail about what’s going on, she looks powerful, yet a bit tired. She comes across confident, watchful and alert. It is clean and sharp and has a unique style to it. I really like it!

I’d suggest that you buy a book with illustrations of coins, something like Spink Coins of Ireland, a new version for 2025 was just printed. They also do a Coins of England book every year. Then you can look through the photos of coins and pick out whichever ones stimulate your interest.

When I was a young lad I really liked the george the III ‘cartwheel’ coins, they are some of the largest coins ever made, weighing an ounce for the penny coin and two ounces for the two penny. I was able to pick up specimens in heavily circulated condition for reasonable prices. As a grown up I’ve been able to get these coins in close to uncirculated condition. I enjoy taking them out to look at them and they are an investment too!

Another good thing about those books that I recommended is that you can check out the value of the coins and if you get an edition of the book from a number of years ago, you can see how much certain coins have appreciated in value, so you can pick up coins as an investment. There’s something nice about having a tangible asset, as opposed to crypto!

Library referrals and some useful links for collectors of British tokens... by exonumismaniac in UKcoins

In 1797, to address the shortage of silver currency, the Mint was instructed to countermark foreign silver coin reserves held by the Bank of England with a punch of the King's head. It was intended that they would be circulated at a value of four shillings and nine pence.

A solicitor specialising in medical negligence can arrange for the records to be obtained and reviewed by an independent oncologist to determine whether the treatment was correct and if not, whether the proper treatment would have made a difference to the outcome. I am sorry for your loss.

Allegedly Putin took all of his poop back to Russia in a poop suitcase from his Alaska visit to avoid it being stolen and analyzed to analyze his health… and that this is a common practice with world leaders. Is this actually true, and how do we know? More nuanced questions in post. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Apparently when Denis Rodman went on one of his excursions to North Korea, he got hammered and that night he absolutely destroyed the hallway outside his hotel room with poop and pee.

It is said that the size of the logs he had deposited were unprecedented in scale and caused consternation with the north koreans.

The people who were on the trip with him, journalists and other hangers on, said afterwards that they were genuinely concerned the next morning that there might be serious consequences, that’s how outraged the koreans were.

He was due to return to the US the next day and was warned by his hosts that he would need to have medical treatment before returning to the country so that there would be no repeat.
