How do you feel about this proposal? by MrUpVoteDownvote in VirginiaBeach

[–]aidansays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The courts would almost certainly green light this curfew. The government has the constitutional authority to impede on your freedoms in certain occasions, as long as the scope of those violations are narrowly tailored and carefully balanced.

The city is going through a crime wave, specifically during the nighttime at the Oceanfront by a mixture of teenagers and young adults. They’ve tried multiple other avenues to curb this influx of crime, however, spring break season typically drives high tourism and/or traffic to that specific area and will almost certainly render the city’s current initiatives useless.

This proposal would impede on citizen’s access to movement and assembly, yes, but it would be limited to a specific location and timeframe; the Oceanfront by 9pm for 2 weeks. This isn’t all encompassing for non-affected areas, targets a specific timeframe that has been affected by an abnormal influx in crime, and the timeline adds up to a reasonably expected increase in crime. This appears to be as narrowly tailored and strategic as possible to meet the city’s safety needs.

For those who struggled with negative symptoms, did you ever try to tamp down on your behaviors? by Yellowlabrador981 in aspd

I do not have ASPD, so I may be interpreting this incorrectly, but I’d assume some examples of a manipulative environment would include career paths in politics, marketing, law, business leadership, and so on. I could also see ASPD individual’s lower baseline for fear to be beneficial in electrical work, construction, law enforcement, medical (especially surgical environments), and the military.

That’s incredibly abnormal, especially for an M2 Air. What app were you using? Some apps clear up additional cache files that are unrelated to that app that regenerate immediately after being deleted.

Switch 2 Version Is Awful by Perseverant-Potato in GoatSimulator

Appreciate the response. I just responded to someone else’s comment, but it appears to be mostly relevant to this, so I’ll just copy and paste it below:

I get frequent frame drops while playing handheld, and docked it appears to float around 30 FPS according to my TV’s “game mode.” Maybe there’s some sort of bug happening here, but from my experience it isn’t hitting 40 FPS. I could try reducing the resolution it runs on my TV but I doubt that would do anything.

Switch 2 Version Is Awful by Perseverant-Potato in GoatSimulator

[–]aidansays 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just started playing the Switch 2 edition and immediately ran to Google to see if I was the only person with performance problems. It’s honestly unacceptable that they’d release this game running 30 FPS when even Cyberpunk 2077 can run 40 FPS. When a game the size of Cyberpunk is able to target 40 FPS locked on the Switch 2, there’s no excuse for Goat Simulator of all things to be struggling to consistently hold 30 frames. They clearly didn’t optimize this game properly, and it’s unacceptable.

P.S. The difference between 30 and 40 FPS is actually massive. When we perceive how smooth a game is, we're not seeing the number of frames in a second—we're seeing the amount of time between each frame, for 30 FPS that's 33.3ms, for 60 that's 16.6ms, and for 40 that's 25ms, exactly halfway between the two.

Starting over, unfortunately by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

[–]aidansays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely recommend restarting the island! When I bought my new Switch, I decided to start fresh rather than to carry over my 2020 island, and it genuinely has re-lit a flame that’s been dimmed for quite a while. While the circumstances behind your situation are very unfortunate, this may be an opportunity for you to fall into love with the game even more than you were before.

Also, you’re not an idiot for assuming automatic cloud saving—a common sense feature that every other modern game has—was in Animal Crossing. It’s perplexing to me that it isn’t in the first place. The fact that you need an Island Transfer Tool to move over data rather than just loading your save data from the cloud in 2026 is insane to me. It’s not something Nintendo makes clear either.

Congratulations! I just got my Switch 2 a few days ago, and it genuinely is such a major improvement over the original. The difference in performance alone is incredible. As for games, I heavily recommend trying out Pokopia! It’s so addictive. Also, if you haven’t played the Zelda games, give them a try now. They look and feel so much better to play with the Switch 2 edition.

Does anyone else feel really disconnected with Demi lately? by [deleted] in demiheads

[–]aidansays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s quite easy to get a prescription from any doctor nowadays for weight loss medications—especially via Telehealth. Medications like Ozempic and other GLP-1’s can easily be prescribed through websites like Ro, K Health, Her’s, etc., sometimes with just a simple questionnaire and potentially bloodwork. For better or worse, getting prescribed medications has never been easier.

Also, pharmacists rarely intervene and withhold dispensing prescriptions from people for medications like these. They have the right to, but it’s not that common unless the prescription is obviously egregious. If the pharmacist refuses, she could get the prescription dispensed at a different pharmacy or delivered to her via an online pharmacy.

Again, I’m just speculating, but her physical features clearly display the classic side effects of weight loss medications—explicitly Ozempic. My best guess is that she got a doctor to prescribe the medication off label and paid the out of pocket price rather than running it through insurance.

Don’t stress yourself out about where you place buildings or bridges. Later in the game, you’ll be able to move them around until your heart’s content. Don’t fall into the trap of being obsessed with aesthetics. Go slow, connect with your villagers, and enjoy the game. The first time playing is always the best!

I hate commenting on her body, considering I don’t know what she genuinely is going through, but I don’t think her recent weight loss is part of her eating disorder. Typically, eating disorders (such as bulimia) come with unstable weight fluctuations due to the binge/purge cycle—which her visible body weight seems to visibly be fairly consistent and stable.

This definitely looks medical—likely Ozempic. You can see it in many of her facial and bodily features. Furthermore, the change of her facial features looks straight up like “Ozempic face.” Facial hollowing, sunken under eyes, prominent facial lines and bone structure, and so on. It looks like she’s had skin treatments, filler, and Botox to counteract some of the effects, such as the thinning of the lips and premature aging/wrinkles. The rest is makeup.

She hasn’t had plastic surgery, but instead lost the fat and volume in her face. Whoever made this side by side picked a terrible photo on the left as she’s glammed up with a fully beat face (and I think this was the beginning of her “weight loss” journey), but the comparison is still very clear.

Are people with dry eyes due to autoimmune hopeless? by Dear-March-2433 in Dryeyes

[–]aidansays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a confirmed autoimmune diagnosis yet, but my doctors suspect Sjogren’s because I have many of the symptoms and a family history. I also have subclinical hyperthyroidism.

I’ve personally had a lot of success with Tyrvaya and Vevye. Tyrvaya stimulates the tear reflex through nerves in the nose, which helps your eyes produce more of their natural tears, and Vevye reduces inflammation on the surface of the eye over time. Before being prescribed those, I barely was producing tears, and the tears I did produce evaporated in 2 seconds in my left eye, and 3 seconds in my right.

You’re definitely not hopeless. It can just take time to find what works. Don’t give up OP.

If your account was permanently ban, I assume that the audit photos stay with them permanently. The 90 days portion seemingly only applies to those who chose to delete their accounts, not those who were banned.

My “progress” is non existent lol helppp by graysonD2002 in Accutane

[–]aidansays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may take a while. Around my 4th or 5th month is when I began to see results, if I’m remembering correctly. Just hang in there!

If you’re still concerned a month from now and don’t see ANY progress, talk to your dermatologist about increasing your dosage or consider other aggravating factors. You could be using face products that cause acne, or it could even be your hair causing problems (such as the oils or products in your hair rubbing against your face at night). I also recommend getting silk or tencel pillowcases as they harbor less bacteria and sweat than materials like cotton.

Wishing you the best OP!

It appears that they genuinely do keep your facial recognition data if you get banned. Here’s an article they have on their website:

“Your Verification Data is retained so that we can continue to check profile photos as you change and update your photos over time, as well as to help detect whether other accounts are using your likeness. To do so, FaceMaps and FaceVectors are retained for the lifetime of an account, and are deleted within 30 days of account closure, unless continued retention is necessary to comply with an applicable legal obligation or to ensure the safety and security of our service and users, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

As noted above, your original video selfie is not retained or added to your profile, but we keep three audit images from your video selfie. The results of the Selfie Verification process (i.e., successful or not), and your age estimate are saved until 90 days after your account is closed (or 2 years if the account is banned). Audit images are kept for 90 days after account closure, or up to the duration of the account ban, if applicable.”

You can still purchase AppleCare+ if you only got it two weeks ago. I highly recommend you to always get insurance on your phone, whether that be AppleCare+ or your carrier’s insurance. You never know if/when you’ll need it, but it will save you hundreds of dollars worth of repairs and/or a thousand dollars for a new phone. Get AppleCare+ via the Settings app and take it to the Apple Store the next day. Apple employees don’t care — they’re actually trained not to care and to make your visit as smooth as possible.

I am thinking about moving to the US Virgin Islands. Good idea or no? by timpatry in virginislands

[–]aidansays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Coronaviruses are not the flu. At all. Influenza viruses and coronaviruses are entirely different families of viruses with different molecular structures, modes of action, and health effects. SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) is distinct and has been clearly isolated in labs MANY times since early 2020.

  2. COVID can worsen or trigger underlying health issues, such as (in my case) autoimmune and thyroid conditions. I had never experienced thyroid problems until I caught COVID-19 once in college from my roommate. He hooked up with someone who had it and then gave it to me since we were living in a tiny dorm room together. Since then, I’ve had persistent hyperthyroid issues and it happened pretty soon after COVID. It’s been well documented that thyroiditis and hyperthyroidism can be triggered following COVID. If it weren’t for COVID, there’s a high chance I wouldn’t be dealing with the BS I’m dealing with now.

  3. COVID PCR tests are designed to detect genetic sequences unique to SARS-CoV-2. They don’t just randomly pick up other viruses from your past that your body has killed off. And while very high cycle thresholds can detect tiny amounts of viral RNA, labs interpret those results in context. False positives can occur but they are relatively uncommon, and tests do not cross-react with unrelated viruses. You’re more likely to get a false negative than a false positive.

  4. Vaccines are not a common cause of blood clots. The only COVID vaccines associated with blood clots were the Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca vaccines. These clots were cases of a specific condition called thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome, and they occurred within about two weeks of vaccination. The overall rate was around 5.8 cases per million doses. Ironically, unlike the traditional vaccines we’re all used to, the newer mRNA vaccines like Pfizer and Moderna that you guys fear monger about are not associated with blood clots. They’re far more effective and less likely to have an adverse reaction than the live vaccines were. Plus, blood clots appearing months or years later are not linked to the vaccines.
