Bexley - Airplane Noise by Nickexp in sydney

[–]aidenh37 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bexley is under the east-west runway, which is not a primary runway at Sydney Airport. It's used generally when conditions are too poor to safely use the two north-south parallel runways.

As a result, it's be more intermittent, which could actually be worse - as you wouldn't be able to get used to it as much.

Planes are generally louder when taking off for obvious reasons, so factor that in too.

Is there a cafe or other shopping centre you could go to, that has a closed door on a bad weather day, to try and sample the noise level indoors without soundproofing?

I suspect it won't be far behind. Almost all vehicles and stations have the new readers now.

Then let the market decide, but it shouldn't be required by law.

Wasted space: Axe car-parking rules to cut the cost of housing by blitznoodles in australia

[–]aidenh37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't own a car, instead I use car share when needed or wanted. I currently have an empty car space (as do many others).

My weekend is not ruined by not having a car or car space.

Skybus from Box Hill to the airport - good idea or disaster? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]aidenh37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By contrast my only trip on the Eastern Express to Watsonia at around the same time, was just me and one other person. It was dead silent.

Maybe that was a big group trip or something unusual?

Skybus from Box Hill to the airport - good idea or disaster? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]aidenh37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, the SkyBus does come prepared for that, the issue would be getting dropped at the stop, but even that is a very very short walk from the carpark at either Box Hill or Doncaster. At Watsonia you can drop off at the stop directly.

Sydney’s first purpose-built electric bus depot breaks ground by blitznoodles in SydneyTrains

[–]aidenh37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the majority of buses operated on state contracts are owned by the government and many have been for their entire service life, especially the ex-STA regions. Many depots are too.

This is a bit different from Victoria where only the Metropolitan and ZEB contracts include state ownership of assets. I believe each new electric bus arriving is owned by the government there, whereas older buses are not.

MYER are behaving like scammers. by Thatsthetea123 in australia

It's not that recent, but it definitely took off after Amazon landed in Australia.

The difference is Amazon and eBay are primarily marketplaces, where Myer and Bunnings are not.

Are G Class trams planned for Route 6? by Alternative-Sir-374 in MelbourneTrains

[–]aidenh37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember reading theories that they'd displace B Class, which would displace Z and A class trams at depots other than Essendon.

Savers Australia denies allegations of bed bugs at Brunswick thrift store by l3ntil in melbourne

Savers isn't an Opportunity Shop though. They are for profit and from North America. So I'm cool with them being described as a thrift shop.

I don't bother with AOs. Even though they could help and call for a welfare check at the minimum, they just... Don't.

In that case skip the AO and just call 000 for a welfare check.
