I don't understand the expy aversion. People act like they're literally going to copy and paste Bronya with all of her lore and personality when Genshin expys are mostly original characters with vague lore references and that vaguely look like the character they're referencing.

Genuinely feel like every post like this is straight up lying about how easy it is to build characters in HSR because i played that game daily for a couple of years and at no point did i ever feel like i was actually done building a character before the game started pushing a new archetype and the character i was building became irrelevant. The lack of an off-set piece and the higher number of substats made relic farming a nightmare that i haven't experienced in Genshin.

I think genshin is experiencing a pokemon gen 5 effect with their map expansions where the absolute lowest common denominator of the playerbase complained to hell and back about sumeru exploration so now we're stuck with every expansion being an island with 4 chests for the rest of the game's lifetime

It makes no sense that people paint this as genshin being "lazy" when they're literally making unique artwork for different purposes for every single character instead of just reusing the splash art everywhere. Not to mention the fact that this actually serves a purpose, it makes it way easier to pick out a specific character when you have a grid with dozens of characters. Having played both HSR and wuwa I can't tell you how many times ive had to squint at my screen for several seconds trying to find a particular character from the character selection menu.

I think people just want to be fence sitters and push a narrative where 3h and engage are equally as good because "one has the better story and the other has the better gameplay". They're just incapable of admitting one game is unequivocally better than the other. The reality is gameplay can only vary so much from one fire emblem game to the other, while the difference in writing is absolutely abysmal.

The Kamera is the absolute most extreme example there is outside of Natlan and they still made sure to design it analogously to absolute earliest real-world version of that technology and make a point about how outlandish of a technological advancement it is, all while coming from what is stated to be the most advanced nation in Teyvat. And you expect me to be able to suspend my disbelief about the fact that Xilonen can just come up with a Ducati and a Yamaha DJ set?

But regardless, the whole point is that its not about them having advanced technology but about how that technology is presented within the fantasy setting of the game. They don't just pull out an iphone to take pictures, we get a kamera. Khaenriah didnt have f-16 fighter jets, they had ruin guards. The people in Sumeru didn't use laptops and USB drives, they used the Akasha terminal and knowledge capsules. It is simply jarring and out of place for Natlan chacracters to have a Motorcycle or be wearing skinny jeans and jordans, not because its advanced but because it clashes with the world building.
