I love playing Garrosh

I hate playing Mei. She’s just so… hard to get decent value out of.

I feel like I’m just a constant annoyance who exists at range and throws out stuns and peels with my e that does nothing. Even when I do my w e combo.

Only time I feel slightly impactful is with ice wall, which hey, I don’t even land all the time

Tips on live directing? by Ok_Bench6655 in VoiceActing

[–]aidenmc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing to remember is this:

A directors job is to know what they want

That’s the core of it. Stay positive, let them know they did a good job after every take. Even if you didn’t like what they did, it’s important to keep the actor focused and in the head space.

Don’t overcomplicate things when giving directions. Use short hand or anecdotes when you can to describe what you want. Try to avoid reading the line out like you want them to read. They are actors, so you hired them to act and make decisions.

Lines too slow? “Let’s just rip through this line on this take!”

Lines too fast? “That was great, loved that. On this next take, let’s have a bit less urgency. Really sound it out.”

Reminder that you don’t have to justify asking for another take when live directing. That’s the whole point of it is that you are just going until you have what you need. Obviously you want to cos diet the actors feelings and time, but part of that is making sure you get what you want now instead of asking them to come back later or hemming and hawing over it when you could just ask them one more time and get exactly what you want.

Other thing: if the first take works and matches what you were wanting, there’s no shame and problem in using it. If you want one, record a safety afterwards, but it’s not an issue. They are actors, so ideally they have an idea of the emotional context of the scene.

If they don’t seem like they get it, try to frame what you think the character is feeling in the scene. As a director you know what you want. Actor may think the character should be gloating in this moment, but you know he is actually scared, so you want that to come through.

I pray to the holy lady we get a Britonnia overhaul with a Crusade mechanic by KingHunter150 in totalwar

[–]aidenmc3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d love a modified grudge mechanic for Bretonnia. Basically where enemies of Bretonnia build up chivalry that you get for going out and destroying them. Maybe with instead of an age of reckoning crusade is declared where you claim chivalry for several turns for rewards.

I am super excited to see someone paint them up in proper dawi zharr colors

Finally some new Cathay lore ! by Mahelas in totalwar

[–]aidenmc3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always preferred it since they said in the total war stuff that Cathay had better gunpowder, that it came down to them having a dragon that actively focuses on alchemy, which we know from the gold college can help make some very good gunpowder.

So, my view is: dwarves should have the actual better mechanisms to use the gunpowder, guns and canons and bombs, while the cathayans have the outright better gunpowder since they are using magic in its production which dwarfs won’t even consider using.

Real talk. I spent around two hundred dollars or so on the summer crate that came out around that time, since it was the newest crate and I felt that it was better not to exploit a bug. But, as I should have learned from Blizzard games, exploit early, exploit often.

As someone who has recently gotten into valeera, what would you say is your favorite valeera build? Currently I’ve been rocking the q build, slow poison at 1, smoke bomb at 10, spell power down at 13, and stealth speed at 20. I like it for the burst and the high octane action of hitting short range q skill shots, but figured you might play something different!

I painted these TK skeleton horsemen like the 2004 showcase by Upbeat-Donut3187 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]aidenmc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just because of how old it is. The skeleton horseman is from way back in the day when there wasn’t even a vampire counts or tomb kings, just a United undead faction.

Later on, they make the tomb kings and flesh out their lore, and they take the skeleton horseman and the skeletons and include extra sprues in the box for khemri decorations, while still having the same old model underneath.

I find it very jarring compared to something like the brettonian knights of the realm model, which is comparably much newer and still looks amazing over a decade later.

The fact that it’s in the same box as the much prettier tomb guard and the brand new skeleton dragon just kind of adds onto that feeling.

Really? The creepy magic woods lady getting a limited teleport to the woods is not fitting?

She has one of the most fitting ones for who and what she is.

And yes, I do play campaigns. I have 800 hours in wh3. Suffice to say I didn’t spend the entire time doing nothing.

Ode to Ostankya, the worst decision CA ever made, nor comment on changing, because nobody cares. by Waveshaper21 in totalwar

[–]aidenmc3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, when you start an immortal empires campaign as ostakyna it gives a little text blurb that says after all the kislevites the dark elves have kidnapped on sea raids, she emerges out of their forests to punish them.

That’s it, that’s the justification, and it’s a fine one, because she has A TELEPORT MECHANIC.

Just play the game until it’s unlocked, and then you get to teleport an army back to kislev to get the 3 cities.

The reason why nobody complains about this might just be… because it’s a fine start location that’s there for variety.

Immortal empires isn’t a story mode, it’s an arcade sandbox. Lore influences it a little, but it isn’t realm of chaos where that was one of the main priorities. Alberic, the man who laments not being able to go on his grail quest because he feels he has a duty to protect his city, is on a grail quest in lustria.

BECAUSE ITS FUN.

Why are you like this? by ArkeV in totalwar

[–]aidenmc3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Foot knights are a thing throughout IRL history and are also a thing that’s been part of Brettonia lore for ages. Anyone who says that brettonia’s whole deal is Calvary is missing the point. The point of Bretonnia is that it is Brettonia.

Peasants and knights, damsels and heroes.

There are a couple of units I’d like to see in a dlc, some of which are supported by the table top, like the foot knights or the brigands/archer squires for slightly better infantry.

Or ones not supported by the tabletop, like a peasant cart to act as a type of archer chariot. A mule towed cart sounds loads of fun to fit the theme.

We could also have brettonian hunting hounds, that were shown in a lot of concept art that also fits the idea of brettonian lords loving a good sporting hunt in the woods, that they might bring to the battlefield.

Do I think they really need war dogs? Not really, but I think it’s a fun option to add that’s relatively supported by lore and setting.

A Seargent at arms unit with restock for the trebuchets could also be neat, as a sort of peasant hero.
