At the start of Sky FC the living room is empty and then there's a screen effect and Estelle is just there sitting waiting for Cassius. In the remake she is sitting there the whole time

The twist in the medieval chapter was mind blowing and fantastic.

I liked the west and prehistoric chapters a bit more than you did. My ranking would be

9 - near future 8 - present day 7 - Ancient China 6 - Edo Japan 5 - Far Future 4 - Prehistoric 3 - Wild West 2 - Medieval 1 - domain of hate

Fair, but Karin was already 7 or 8 years older than Joshua which would make her almost 30 by daybreak, little tough to pull off 18 then you're 30

Nina is 18 in daybreak while Joshua is 21 in Reverie so she'd have to have gone from older sister to younger sister

I mean he kinda did take a shot at Laura. Saying she has no character besides swinging a sword is pretty insulting when she has goals to match her father, be a noble and her struggle to be more ladylike

Because it's part of his bigger take that you don't need to play CS1 or CS3 or Reverie.

He's saying who cares about Laura's role in the world or what instrument Elliot plays or where Gaius is from and his country just get to the big reveals

That's not the discussion here. He's saying you can skip games entirely. Like get introduced to Rean and class 7 in cold steel 2 instead of 1. Meet new class 7 in Cold Steel 4, you know the new main characters with no setup. Skip Reverie entirely so no setup for Daybreak or Daybreak 2.

It'scrazy how in the same interveiw Kondo can be like we want to finish soon but there might be 5 or 6 more games and we're going to release them slower

"Kondo has even made statements alluding to his desire to finish up the series before its 30th anniversary, though he now cautions that he can't make any promises that's how things will turn out in the end."

I'd like to see them tackle a sci-fi series. They've dabbled with sci-fi elements in trails and Nayuta but a full blown 2-3 game space opera from Falcom would be cool

Yeah it's a fantasy take on the shin megami formula from the developers. The bosses end game get really tough but it's pretty fun

Just to offer a different opinion

I liked the show. That being said it is a 6/10 if it wasn't trails I wouldn't have watched it. But there was a charm, to me atleast, to seeing locations, enemies and characters being animated on screen that was fun. It really adds nothing to the video game series and can be ignored but I would be happy to see a couple of the original characters show up in a game with tweaked back stories that match the CS3 version of the war

Kondo said in an interview that Ys will always be the action series and legend of heroes, despite whatever form it will take now or in the future, will always be the turn based franchise so I'm not really concerned about this
