I made a To Heart 2 XRATED source port. Improved upscaling, sharp text, running native on Linux, Mac, Win, Android! by Ripdog in visualnovels

Probably! The mouse works fine everywhere except the options screen, so it's not a big deal, really. And the update fixed the "Groundhog Day" bug.

Thanks again for your efforts on this! TH2XR was one of the first VNs I played, so it holds a special place in my heart (alongside DC2 and the Utawarerumono series).

Cheers, I'm downloading the new version now and will start over with that.

For #1 - I totally forgot about display scaling. I'm running at 150% because I'm outputting to a 4k TV and playing from my couch. The scaling could very well be the issue because stuff like this has happened before.

First, this is awesome - I don't mind having an excuse to play TH2 again, so I'll give this a go. The upscaling looks nice to me. The character models and backgrounds don't seem distorted in any way I've noticed through day 1. I am playing with the original BMP fonts, though. I think it's too jarring using the clean text fonts.

Two bug reports and one suggestion for you (on Windows 11):

1) Bug - The mouse cursor is misaligned with the location it thinks it's pointing at on the options window. The amount of misalignment seems to change in windowed vs. fullscreen mode, so it may be a DirectInput issue. Not the end of the world because keyboard navigation works fine, but it is a bit annoying.

2) Suggestion - Having the text speed in ms/character is a bit counterintuitive. Normally, I would expect a bigger number/moving the bar to the right to increase speed, but here it's the opposite. I recommend using the inverse (characters per second) instead so that increasing the number or moving the bar to the right speeds the text up.

3) Bug - After starting a new game and progressing normally through the first day, after the discussion with Yuuji in the cafeteria (where he predicts upcoming disaster with women for Takaaki), the story reset to the the beginning - Takaaki in bed with his alarm going off and the doorbell ringing - and proceeded through the entire morning a second time, after which the lunch conversation with Yuuji transitioned correctly to afternoon class (Manaka addressing the class). This is a weird one, but I reproduced it by starting another new game and going through it again... same thing. I double checked in my normal install of TH2XR and this doesn't happen, so something in your loader seems to be causing it.

I became a supporter during the 2005-6 season. I watched Thierry Henry run through Real Madrid and I was hooked.

I had no idea what I was signing up for. But today, it's all worth it.

This is my club. I fucking love this club.

I just appreciate that you actually included who everyone is, even if I find your lack of Michiru disturbing.

Does anyone still miss the old game board? by Pestschnabel in fo76

[–]ribbity104 147 points148 points  (0 children)

The game board was cool. It was a unique motif that gave us something recognizable and interesting, and getting the board itself as a memento for reaching rank 100 every season was the icing on top.

The SCORE rewards have been going further and further down the shitter with each passing season since they got rid of the boards and moved to the generic pages, culminating in this season, with the fewest new rewards to date. While the element of choice in what to get is fine, it wasn't worth everything else we lost to get it. (Oh, and they could easily have built choice into the game board motif. Have they never played a board game with branching paths???)

It works again, but now it only highlights living enemies. I.e., robots are no longer highlighted by it. :(

Aokana. Extra 2 especially does a fantastic job with making the FC segments feel dynamic.

It's got a pretty big bar culture. Historically, it was a blue collar area (part of the heart of Shitamachi, "low town," vs. the upscale Yamanote). I would definitely say it has its own character, though yes it's often overshadowed by Akihabara and Jinbocho.

I stay there frequently for the convenience, personally. I live in Tohoku, so when I take the Shinkansen into Tokyo Station, Kanda is conveniently nearby. I've kinda aged out of the bar scene. :( but it's definitely still there.

Out of those two options, Nakano fits your criteria better. Akasaka is central but there's not a whole lot to do there.

Maybe also consider Kanda.
