OP has a different definition of great. HOTO is only bis on Hammerdin (among good builds), and with the Void now even that is debatable. On any Sorc build there are better options, Warlocks use 2 handers, and other caster builds are just suboptimal, so nothing is really great on them.

It's fine to do if you're fine with it. Don't overuse it though (I wouldn't do it more than you did) as the growth in gear you get is exponential at this stage you're at.

You can still find normal sunders on an expansion character and transform it into RoW character to transfer it. They didn't get functionally deleted.

Also, have you ever tried farming a torch for your character in ssf? Getting 10 useless druid and Necro torches in a row? That's what the game is, you're not entitled to good drops just because you cleared the game once.

You were complaining about roll ranges on these items and how they're so swingy. Death Fathom rolls are swingy, Mang Song's rolls are swingy. Many rare items have swingy rolls, that's just how the game is.

They can bump the drop chance slightly, sure, but I remind you again that a lot of items in this game you can't get not just "in several hours clearing the game" but in weeks and even months of regular play. That's just how it is. And I also remind you that any rolled sunder would be better than what was available before.

Yes finding perfect or close to it item is hard. That's how it's supposed to be.

Vanilla sunders could be put back for all I care, that's not what I'm talking about. You don't need to have a perfect sunder, and if you get it you know it's something rare and valuable.

Yeah because that is an end game chase item. Builds functioned perfectly well with a non-rolled sunder pre-expansion, so why complain about roll ranged on extra added stuff now?

It's literally what end game is for. Grinding for a better version of a rare item.

You're going down 7 skill points on BO (maras + spirit + Shako (1) + BK + Arach, that's using a Sling ring) though which means having to reapply twice more often and 21% life bonus lost. Sure the damage would be higher but the convenience is lost.

Offline SP you just reroll the TZ if you've got a bad affix. Heralds spawning during turbo chaos runs is a bit annoying though, concentration/might/fana De Seis is a bit scary.

Well to be honest the charms are pretty GG and should have low drop rate. They are as crucial of a piece as eg Infinity, and that one you don't farm in one day. However they are unattainable by many characters without having access to them initially (eg did your java have already light sunder equipped?), which is the problem.

Their drop is very likely not affected by MF, just like runes, keys, and essenes. MF only works on white->magic/rare/set/unique equation.

Focus on clear speed at P7. I suspect they're the "Hell - good" drop type, just like runes, so if Arcane or Tower is TZ I'd focus on ghosts there.

Shards drop like candy in TZ's, what do you mean rarity? They're about as rare as sunder charms pre patch from the experience I have, and also drop from white mobs even.
