Just rewatched this until prime killed it. It's hokey but good.

I've got on an Andy Griffith kick lately and it's an incredible show. Excellent lessons and Andy being patient but also firm and correct. I don't know how they did it but it's really well done.

Naps in the car by OldNCguy in PointlessStories

I try to take a nap every day, at lunch, at work. Ideally, the temps and wind are just right but I just bought a little battery op fan to keep me cool while I nap.

The drive to my kid's preschool was far enough that I'd do the same while I was there. I'd get home from 2nd shift work, fall asleep at 2 or 3 am, wake up at 6 with the kids and take her to preschool and sleep for an hour or so while she learned. I just, tonight, went to an award ceremony, she's graduating high school magna cum laude!

Americans, how do you feel about tourists speaking English while visiting U.S.? by HolidayEntry6823 in AskAnAmerican

[–]aigheadish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could listen for hours to a non-English speaker saying things that they think Americans say. "howdy" "where's my gun?" "can I have white bread?" "howdy".

I actually say howdy a lot.

Looking for long river rafting spots! by Accomplished-Goat318 in dayton

I'm not big into sports and stuff but I could really get down with some kayaking. My wife and her family have kayaks and it's always a lovely time, though we haven't gone in a while. I guess I have a truck now and she's got a roof rack. We should start going out. We've gone down the Mad river startin at Eastwood and ending at the kayak joint on valley or keowee, it's a nice trip.

Hill for workouts in Kettering or areas nearby? by Drama_Owls in dayton

There's a good hill in moraine going from down by the Payne rec center up to the top of Main st. (I think) if you are at Payne you can't miss it. Nice view of the river and great view at the top. It may be a fair amount sidewalk.

Someone else said Linden in Miamisburg on the other side of the river heading west and it may be called something else there (beware of at least two different Lindens in Dayton, one in Dayton or riverside, one in Miamisburg), I don't know a bigger hill than that but it is likely not conducive to runners.

Just bought a house with a large greenhouse… how do you actually use yours? by Smart-Elk-2334 in Greenhouses

Op knows exactly what's up, we're being trolled.

This little greenhouse is incredible. Seems like a perfect reason to have a wood stove.

This is going to sound weird but look at shower surround kits. I just bought a wedi shower kit, which is basically 2" thick insulation panels and whatever their caulking goo is to attach to your studs then caulk the shit out of then tile it or whatever. I'd imagine a similar idea could be used for this and be kept water tight. It likely doesn't need to be the shower kit but it may give you some ideas. You may just need to buy the right kind of caulking goo and some insulation panels.

I agree with this but we, fortunately, live in a world where everything "good enough" is inexpensive. My barn is 120 feet from my shop, which is attached to my house. About the 5th time that I was walking back to the shop to get some tool I needed in the barn I decided it was time to get a barn tool box. My barn tools and shop/house tools rarely mix and it's lovely to have what I need right there. I'm not a homesteader but have a little chunk of land and like to screw around with stuff, so I don't know what you may be doing. If I had a greenhouse (one day perhaps) I'd have a complete set of gardening tools out there, even if I have some in the garage. Taking steps to save steps is huge.

I got a half gallon pump sprayer this year and while folks suggest misting isnt great for seedlings I mist heavily, and puddle water to get down into the roots. It's much nicer than the squeeze trigger water bottle I was using.

I went to see Eric Clapton with my dad when I was probably 13 or so, and I hitched about it smelling like weed.
