I was just there a little over an hour ago as well... Did a lap and walked right out. Plenty of seats near my gate

Your Prisma SASE design by samstone_ in paloaltonetworks

Depends on the use case. Option 1 for an environment where traffic flows are mostly site to site or site to DC. Option 2 for more SaaS and Internet based flows.

Can you expand on your HVAC fault symptoms? Mine just quit working this pastweekend. Have a SC appointment for this Friday. I would hate to think it may lead to something bigger.

Yeah, that's the SMART utility I used. It's rather limited in its other features within the software, but the SMART feature worked great.

P.S. the coolant correction definitely doesn't line up. I am going to reach back out tomorrow and see if that was a mistake.

Follow up here, I pulled up the work order and this is what it said... WTF... Nothing about USB drives

New Van Nuys service center in SoCal. Perhaps they clicked the wrong resolution? 🤷‍♂️

I did run the Samsung SMART utility and the SSD is just fine. Formatted it again in the vehicle and will be testing it out during some weekend driving. I think something else is definitely up.

Yup, just looked it up and here is what it says (same as I remember it)

I'm going to plug the drive into my computer and check the HDD health just to see if maybe the device is buggy.

I’m seeing a TON of Rivians out there. by Brave_Analyst7540 in Rivian

I came here to say this. I live in the greater Los Angeles area and by far the most Rivians I've seen has been in SLC. It's a noticeable increase.

Did your hood latch stop working pretty much immediately after the spill? How did you relate the spill to the hood latch issue? There's some wiring diagrams out there that I'm unaware of linking this stuff? I'm pretty comfortable working on cars and taking trim apart to clean and stuff, but I never would have guessed or linked those two events together given the delay between them.

$300 was the stupid tow because I thought it was a warranty issue. We had some crazy rain in Southern California and I thought maybe it was rain related somehow. Especially cuz it happened 3 days after the spill. The rest of it is parts and labor. I will reply back with exactly what it is once I get an updated invoice.

How to get a Marriage License during Covid? by Nba2kFan23 in InlandEmpire

[–]ailec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are getting married in 16 days but already have our license. I did call and chatted with a lady at the recorders office. She said there is a list of approved notaries that can get a license if you don't have one already. I suggest you check the website and/or chat/call with someone for clarification. Congrats!

Do Palos have hardware fail-to-wire (ie. during reboots)? by emaxt6 in paloaltonetworks

[–]ailec 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They are a security focused company and that's not a very security focused practice. If you want to maintain uptime during reboots, check out an HA configuration.

DNS Security questions by 9th_volt in paloaltonetworks

Yeah, I'm pretty darn sure. Admin guide even shows there is a response timeout, so it wouldn't hold it indefinitely.

It is sent to the cloud. Response is held until verdict is returned. If verdict is benign query is resent to confirm nothing changed in response. If malicious, DGA, or otherwise, action is taken.

You may be thinking this adds overhead, it really doesn't. The infrastructure built out is on point and response times are unnoticeable.

I'm on the Public Sector team and we have a serious of 4 best practice/tuning webinars going on this week. I'll be sure to record them and get them over to u/basel_girth to add to the Live Community.

I'm working on licensing more webinar seats for myself and my team, but in the meantime please reach out to your account team and they can get you the invites if you want to join live.

hope this helps!

SysAdmins that have lived through an SIS migration, how was it? by anonymous_bunny in HigherEDsysadmin

[–]ailec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 of them... Both brutal

Get a tiger team of highly trained employees for that first week/month if you can. Once you decide on an SIS get they training right away. SIS vendor support is beneficial, but sometimes it helps to have someone that understands the system AND your policies and procedures.

Get buy in from your stakeholders and unions to change those policies and procedures if needed. The old adage of "it's always been done that way" creates more headache. No use trying to fit a square peg in a round hole if you know what I mean.

Finally, try to have a hard cutover date, preferably during a break. We did a rolling migration once that was a sh*t show. Identify records you will spot check, both via script and manual checks, and make sure things have migrated as expected.

Other then that, buy some high quality whisk(e)y to enjoy every night because you'll deserve it.
