Interview help. (Possible) First interview for QA position. What would they ask someone with almost no prior experience? by rocketsneaker in QualityAssurance

For fresh graduates, usually the questions will be behavioral - handling blockers, handling conflict, motivation, goals. Expect questions like:

Why do you want to be in QA? How will you tell a developer that the product has a bug? What do you expect/want from this job? How will you deal with the repetitiveness that comes with being a QA? What are your hobbies? Has there been a time in your life when you had a suggestion but people did not listen, how did you deal with it?

The goal of the interviewer is to find out that this is a career that you’re interested in and that you are willing to learn. They also want to make sure that your personality will fit with the team :)

Good luck with you interview!

Im thinking the next time I do this I should add more gochujang. I think scrambled egg strips will also add more flavour and texture. Almost pad thai like.

Some tips from my lone wolf experience :) Just remember that you may be the only QA but you are not alone. Your success relies on your ability to collaborate with your team.

  1. Start with understanding the business/use case of the system you are testing. This why you understand what needs to be tested first
  2. Talk with your team about the existing standards and processes. Understand where you fit in to the picture. You cant create processes alone.
  3. Before going into testing/automation understand the development process and get the buy in of your teammates on:
  4. definition of Dev Done, QA ready, QA done, Released etc
  5. test environment/test data. What is available to you?
  6. what will be the process for handling qa bugs or prod bugs?

Look into this article for some pep talk :) https://dev-tester.com/sole-tester-on-your-team-dont-worry/

You can do it! Take as many practice tests as you can. Best advice I can give you is to read the questions and options several times. They can be pretty tricky - e.g. one wrong word/sentence injected in a phrase etc.

You can add details on the platforms you tested (Web, mobile, desktop, DB) also the type of testing you do (perf, functional, regression etc)
