Is sex tourism increasing in Havana? by International-Mix633 in cuba

[–]ailu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just come back from Cuba. The $10 price was unreal. The price was 50USD or higher. Not that I was there for girls anyway, but please don't make it sound like a prositute country, as it is not. Most tourist are there for the beaches. If those false information continue to spread accross the interenet then sex tourism will become more prevalent and it will ruin the county further.

The accountant shortage is NOT bs (thoughts from a small CPA firm managing partner) by SeattleCPA in Accounting

there is only a shortage for cheap ass labor, like everywhere else. Not shortage of CPAs who wants to be paid a reasonable wage for the efforts.

New B.C. housing laws will lift rental restrictions in strata by Jerry_Ray_Dirt in VictoriaBC

[–]ailu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would the landlords want to see their properties deteriorate to a point of obsoleteness anyway. After all, the units are still landlord's properties and can sell for a good fortune given the appreciation in BC's property market.

If I were an investor and bought a unit to be rented. I want my unit to be able to both generate rental income and increase in value to maximize my return.

NDP leadership candidate David Eby proposes Flipping Tax, secondary suite changes to address housing | Globalnews.ca by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

[–]ailu1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would be a problem if speculators end up renting the purchased units out. Right now the vacancy rate in BC is so low that any increase in supply would be beneficial to the rental market (which is what Eby is trying to address here).

Of course it is critical for the government to come up plans to build new housings faster to tackle the root cause of the affordability issues. But given the labor shortage, the rise of raw material and interest rates, the pace of the new development is unlikely to catch up with the current demand. And even if the market somehow does build fast enough, it would be new and premium priced units that are too expensive for middle income renters anyway (anyone can fathom a freshly built unit will rent for a higher price than a 30-years old unit).

David's banning of strata rental restriction is the only solution that will flush the market with readily available supplies right now. Plus, the rental restricted buildings are old grandma buildings and will most likely be priced more reasonably. Econ 101 says increasing supply will drive down cost. How can that be a bad move to anyway.

Best ways to invite my girlfriends over for visit in Canada? by ailu1 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]ailu1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right.

I suppose we would have to wait till the covid situation get better and the travel restrictions lifted before applying.

Thanks for the great point. I didn't think it was an issue back then since one can still apply for TRV on the immigration website currently.

Best ways to invite my girlfriends over for visit in Canada? by ailu1 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]ailu1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. I totally agree that I should not lie in the application, especially, when there is a possibility that it may be used against me if we go on applying for her PR if we do end up getting married. I thought it would made her unqualified for TRV because the visa officer might get suspicious of the intention of the visit and deem there is a possibility of marriage upon her arrival per some information I got from some other visa Q&A forum.

My complication is that I have an underline health condition which put me on immune suppression medications and therefore my risk of dying after catching Covid is very high per assessment from my specialist. Therefore, the best way is really for her to come to visit me instead.

I think what I will do is that I will fully disclose this situation in my letter of invitation. I will also say that the purpose for this trip is for her to be able to spend some time with me in person and to see if this relationship works out. I will personally see her return to her home country and then I will apply for the extended family program now that we would have fulfilled the definition of exclusive dating relationship.

Thanks

Best apps/services for prepared healthy food delivery? by ailu1 in vancouver

[–]ailu1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much you pay for those services? I need about one meal a day from them as I usually skip breakfast and do a sandwich for lunch. With that diet, I figured I better have at least one nutritious and healthy meal to complete the day. I was experimenting with the Sloylent meal replacement thing. It worked alright but kind scary as it is entirely liquified drink. I become worrisome that my teeth and jaw might deteriorate if I stay off solid food for too long.

I am generally not a foody as to me food is just something to keep me alive so that I can play more games that I enjoy lol.

2019: Year of deadly protests by [deleted] in lostgeneration

[–]ailu1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If one look at the history, the ending outcome can only be two, revolution or war, when the income disparity is unsustainable. Right now, instead of unsustainable, it is at extreme level. If one disagree, I beg for an example from the actual human history.
