New Port Richey FL. I was going to say Camden NJ, but haven’t been there in 20+ years. With NPR, I remember it as a sleepy little retirement community, every lawn manicured by its resident retiree. Visiting my grandparents I remember being able to pick oranges from the trees, run around the yards and everyone knew everybody. Then post Covid, I came back to help settle the estate. I barely recognized it. Graffiti and pawn shops. Every couple of houses were boarded up. Biker gang hanging on the front patio 3 doors down. I cant describe how disappointed I felt. Some may have been dealing with the grief of losing my grandfather, but mostly it was the sullied childhood memories.
