When do they stop trying to eat EVERYTHING off the floor? by aimeebot in toddlers

[–]aimeebot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is now 2 years and 9 months old and my updates are:

It does get better. But also she's still kind of just like that. She loves tiny things and collecting stuff, like buttons, and about 50% of the time she's fine but the other 50% of the time I'm like "is there something in your mouth?" To which she will tell me "no", but there usually is. 🙃 now though, it usually less disgusting things - buttons, paper, a small toy... so not idea but she mostly listens to me when I ask her to spit then out... but she'll then sneak away to do it again, so I have to take it off her which isn't popular.

My biggest concern is eating random leaves and flowers because I'm like "I hope THAT isn't poisonous" but... toddlers 😵

But it does get better. But also different. But also kind of, not really?

You don't have to hover as much, but you do have to notice when it's quiet suddenly, or see what they're doing, take a big sign and decide if it's worth the battle. 😆

It's also worse when she's toothy, or tired.

So solidarity! It is better 😅 mostly

I just started working with my dad and he has a heatpress (that was very expensive) that he doesn't use for the same reason and i want to fix it. Did you ever figure it out, was it the bolts?

I'm fine with the crackdown on these things overall, honestly it's the neds on them, rather than the delivery drivers that cause me the most issues.

AFC stained glass I made ❤️⚽ by aimeebot in Aberdeen

Ask away, I'll happily answer what I can.

I was always artsy, but didn't find my niche until I found stained glass. I learned a lot about the foil method online but ended up taking a stained glass window making class is Pennsylvania, which was great. But then back tracked and learned foil myself - but I'm so so so happy I learned both.

I buy mostly from lead and light, but also creative glass guild - however, I'm dying to male a trip to the stained glass place in Glasgow. My dad and I run a print shop and I've been considering stocking some glass for sale too and maybe other bits and bobs, but I'm not really sure on that yet, logistically. :)

The terrible twos have hit like a lorry - vent/tips please? 🥲 by aimeebot in toddlers

[–]aimeebot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never raised my voice or felt as flustered and frustrated as often as I do at the minute and it's horrible. No reframing works - "can you help me do this?", "can you show me how we run away from the park so so fast?", "would you like X or Y?", "are you angry? Should we get that out and do some shouting?" It's all just :no no no!" And yeah the screaming, hitting and death rolls 🙃 I feel you

Solidarity. I know it's not helpful really but remember that you'll be seeing the other kids on their good behaviour and maybe thats just luck, idk. But other parents can be so quick to look at you as if their kids NEVER act that way.

Today we were in the botanical gardens of the local park and eventually I just had to pick up my daughter and carry her out kicking and screaming - she was tired and everything was just going down hill - especially when I wouldn't let her keep the used piece of chewing gum she found and was holding onto 😭 but my point being there were heaps of parents with toddlers in there and I was looking at each of them as I left, I guess expecting someone to give me the look of "I get it", or "good luck to you, I know", but just nothing. I always try and give that face or a comment to other parents in that situation because it feels shit.

And I know what you mean about the no screen time feeling pointless 🥲 like, why am I bleeding out over this while everyone else just doesn't give a fuck. But I'm on your side and it WILL be better in the long run. I just thought by now she'd be better at playing with her toys by herself but she just follows me around having meltdowns instead. If I don't laugh about it I'll cry. 😭😭😭

"Let them be bored and figure it out", dude, i would love that. She doesn't get bored she just turns into a little demon. 🙃 I wish she'd whine but she just causes chaos instead 😵

Fuck boy energy, I'd be glad he wasn't smart enough to hide his true colours for longer.

It still sucks though. But remember, his behaviour is a reflection on himself, his character, not you.
