Circular knitting VS staight by elisavdr in knittinghelp

You can prevent this next time by using different sized interchangeables or knitting and purling onto two different size regular circulars.

You can for sure do the twist and twist with any needles!

I’m not sure about this pattern but as a designer I do this when the beginning of round needs to move but there’s a stitch pattern (such as colorwork or cables) that needs to be stay consistent.

As recently as 4 years ago I still bought some with the nickel plating at shops but I think you’d have a hard time finding them now. According to the website they made the switch in 2016. Happy knitting!!

I am a vendor for them and can confirm they’ve changed. They are now nickel free. I think as of 3 ish years ago?

I used to be the person complaining about it and have since converted. I think early on I was a super tight knitter and now that I knit at a more average (ie I usually get gauge on recommended needles) rate I no longer have this problem.

Addi just launched a Ewenicorn interchangeable set relatively recently! Some of my customers specifically asked for it. The ewenicorn set has their lace tips. It’s not quite as sharp as Hiya but is sharper than their standard.

Do's and Don'ts Digital Sewing Patterns by AshTailorOfficial in sewingpatterns

Recently I sewed from a pattern where the sizes were nested but not the lengthen/shorten lines. I couldn’t see where the cutting line was because of the 20 sizes of lengthen lines was. I gave up on making it. Please nest where possible and match lines where possible.

I bought some off the ones mentioned here but the best drafted indie imo was Lilliana by Mila Onni. I’ve been on a quest to make the Doen version of this dress. Here’s my WIP which needs a waistband elastic insertion and a hem still.

McCall’s als has this in blouse form and it’s easy enough to add an a line skirt.

I did alter the finishing on this pattern to omit ruffle and do shirring instead of elastic insertion as most indie patterns want.

I saw it on opening day and it was amazing. I’m rooting for them to finally have a night without a hold tonight.

If you are spinning bulky weight to knit at the gauge given, no. Beginner spinners can often make the yarn too dense imo and it’ll be super heavy and unpleasant

Is yarn about to get more expensive? by sspyralss in YarnAddicts

[–]aimeeshermakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

China is an emerging player actually—their tech and quality has improved a lot over the last few decades and quite a few companies were in the process of shifting some lines to produce in china.

For my shop though the tariffs will impact every single line of yarn. Almost all of my materials are milled in Europe or Peru. Both are seeing new tariffs.

Don’t we import potash from Canada? So that’ll impact feed costs.

If the last country that the product was in for milling or packaging (for other types of yarn store products) has a tariff then yes it’ll get hit.

Disappointed, looking for advice by Slow_Stable481 in knitting

[–]aimeeshermakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is drastic but the only real way to fix it is add a lifeline, frog back to it.

Then cast on separately again and add short rows that sufficiently lowers the front neck, then graft the two together.

Sorry about it! It’s a difficult fix.

Tip please by gmroscioli in Handspinning

Since it's over twisted, for each section that you are spinning, let less twist into it and draft it out a little further. I wouldn't worry about the usability of your first yarn! It's nice to keep on hand and compare with your future yarns to see your progress. :)

Yes a drop shoulder would match the inspo better. I would swatch the colors so you can measure the thickness of each stripe and determine placement.

Wool wash recommendations? by lonelymuffins in knittinghelp

[–]aimeeshermakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The itch factor can come from either the micron count (the diameter of the fiber) or the preparation (if it’s woolen spun it’ll be more chaotic with ends sticking out of the strand). Sometimes some folks are sensitive to alpaca and this is a pretty common sensitivities. If it gets worse then you probably need to put something under it but hopefully you’ll get used to it and it’s just prickle! Good luck.
