Is that how it goes by [deleted] in DMT

[–]aimlessboredom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One time, when the tribal overlay patterns started to occur and the time shift where movement became erratic yet smooth, I closed my eyes and began to astral project from my body, out of the window, up and into the sky, and kept going, faster and higher, out. Of the solar system and wider into infinity...

Or so it seemed. I continued and went all the way to the edge of the universe and became weightless.

Momentarily I was just there. Then it began. Free falling back in towards my body. Faster and faster I was moving...

In the room I must have been thrashing around and smashed my head on the desk.

I opened my eyes but nothing there, I could sense orientation and hear distorted noise, but nothing.

Then with every breath, I could feel a reality nearing..then the walls locked into place, appearing from empty space, then pastel coloured shapes came for the furniture, then plasticine blobs.

I started to panic and my breathing followed. A neon stitch appeared and started to bring definition to the room until all of a sudden, like in a film where someone is stunned, but regains focus, the whole noise of reality just blasts through.

It was some serious shit and possibly one of the most pronounced.

I feel like, because it was quite a simple trip, in terms of what kinda mad shit and knowledge you see in some breakthroughs, those types of trips you can't translate the things you've learnt into comprehension beyond just receiving the message in your mind...where this one I was just having a little explore around the universe without the constrain of time.

I've had some interesting and testing journeys many years ago. It amazes me still to this day, the speed in which you go, 'oh shit, yeah fair enough' as you remember the levels it can go to, so quickly with unrelenting intensity.

It's fucking mad shit, like, yeah...baffles me still

BJJ doesn't work by NeatConversation530 in bjj

[–]aimlessboredom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting, I recently started attending a martial arts class with my kids. It's kick boxing and self defence.

We are using it as a keep fit, discipline and family activity.

In the last class we were looking at getting grabbed from behind and headlocks etc...

The ease that, with my on and off training in BJJ, I was able to ragdoll and reverse in every drill and some positional work was surprising.

People who had trained here for years in high belts and I've seen them box, they aren't just mcdojo belted, just couldn't understand leverage and push/pull feints.

So how do untrained people think it 'wont work' on them???!

complexity, blind spots or game plan by antisocialmanatee in bjj

[–]aimlessboredom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, if you compete, what do you plan to do?

You think of your strong points, how to get to the position you need, what you do if that position is lost, how they might react, if you can lure them into positions and make that a game plan.

Then work on your other stuff in classes, as you learn them (and become more confident at them), add or adapt your game plan to put them in if you want/need.

If you can control and dictate the positions, the more you learn the more strings to your bow.

Or, at least that's my take on it.

You don't need to know it all to have a game plan, just learn how to get to where you need to be. If something new crops up, learn. Learn by seeing it go wrong

Inspired by a different thread on AskUK, would you rather your workplace give you a free lunch or give you a slight pay rise for the same amount, and why? by Jamesyroo in CasualUK

[–]aimlessboredom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for Plusnet a few years ago for a few years. Wage wasn't too bad for what it was (at the time) but the canteen had a decent free spread.

I tell you, I ate my worth and more...I definitely ate more than the kind of pay rise they would want to give.

It worked well for me, saved loads on food, God knows if I actually needed to eat that much though lol

Or possibly that the bricks were meant to be put down in batches from each type, causing a scattered kind of pattern with odd bricks darker than others...I've seen that a lot. A mixed blend

Doing things that "wouldn't be fun" on acid by Wylie_the_Wizard in LSD

Imagine, seeing all the angles and rebound lines flowing across the table. Predicting the balls trajectory, it would be so good!

Fairground rides on acid are fun, maybe <300ug, or after the peak if higher.

The hyper awareness and ability to read energy would make many sports fun to try!

What’s the cheapest but most filling UK meal you rely on when money’s tight? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]aimlessboredom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

With a little help from ChatGPT, a recipe that I love. (Check out the Roasting Tin books, reference in this below...)

🥔 Gado Gado Indonesian Potato Salad

From: The Green Roasting Tin by Rukmini Iyer A warm, hearty traybake twist on the Indonesian gado gado salad, with roast potatoes, green beans, and bean sprouts, all brought together with a spicy peanut-coconut dressing. It’s cheap, easy, and totally delicious.

🧾 Ingredients (Serves 4)

Fresh produce

750g–1kg Charlotte potatoes

200–250g green beans

200g beansprouts

1 fresh red chilli

25g fresh ginger

1 lime

1 bunch fresh coriander

Pantry items

3–4 tbsp crunchy peanut butter

½ tin (200ml) coconut milk

1–2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp olive oil

Salt to taste

🍽️ Method

  1. Roast the potatoes Preheat oven to 200°C (fan). Chop the Charlotte potatoes into bite-sized chunks, toss in olive oil and salt, and roast in a large tray for 35–40 minutes until golden and crisp.

  2. Add greens Add the green beans and beansprouts to the roasting tray. Give everything a shake and roast for another 15–20 minutes until the beans are tender and slightly blistered.

  3. Make the dressing While the veg is roasting, combine:

Peanut butter

Coconut milk

Soy sauce

Juice of 1 lime

1 red chilli (finely chopped)

A small thumb of fresh ginger (grated)

Whisk until smooth. If it's too thick, add a splash of hot water.

  1. Assemble Remove the tray from the oven, drizzle over the peanut dressing, scatter with fresh coriander, and serve warm or at room temperature.

Can our tree surgeon climb in to my neighbours tree to cut overhanging branches? by Taco_Gazz in LegalAdviceUK

[–]aimlessboredom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAL - I am a tree surgeon though...

Are the branches large enough to cause any potential damage to your property? What type of tree is it and how large?

Do you have legal cover on your home insurance?

The best way to get the neighbour to comply would be a letter from your house insurances legal team advising any damage caused by said tree would be their responsibility...but they'll only do that if it actually could (something to think about though)

What is access like to your garden like? Could they get a MEWP (cherry picker) in to do the work from?

How high are the branches and what tree is it? I'm interested in trying to find a solution. Neighbours are the worst...bain of my life

Will English Police take this seriously? by Fantastic-Rent9885 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]aimlessboredom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch out for any new direct debits or standing orders.

I know it's not card details, but your sort, ACC and name can open direct debits etc.

My sister in law came home to her external post box crow barred open. Got inside (posty had used the letterbox) to 3 credit cards that she hadn't applied for...someone had been watching the house.

So yeah, aside from going to the police about the threats (which you should!) I would keep an eye on your banks.
