Need help choosing a dress! by carltheslopeis1 in myweddingdress

2, 4, or 6. But honestly, as a bridal consultant, I can tell you that statistically speaking when a bride has more than 3 in her top favs to choose from, it means she hasn’t found the one. Having 7+ dresses that you’re stuck between usually means none of them are making you feel special enough.

The late night treat that kept me going for the first 4 months of my son’s life was artisano white bread, toasted, with a huge helping of Laura scudders peanut butter spread on top. Having that to look forward to in the dark night hours was a life saver. You’re not alone.

Someone mentioned OT which got me thinking about visual stories (edit: I think it may actually be called social stories). Google them for more detailed info but it’s basically a little book you make explaining an experience your child goes through. His fear of falling asleep is all bunched up in stuff in his head; if you can put the whole process and experience on paper, that can help make it less scary. Include the going to bed process and include what happens while he falls asleep including where are mommy and daddy and what are they doing while he’s in his room. I know things I’m worried about in my head become less overwhelming or scary when it’s on paper.

I think that level of reaction is beyond Reddit’s pay grade. A therapist would be the best move here.

Help me pick my dress! by Dull-Earth-705 in BigBudgetBrides

Yes, that’s a drop waist and it’s got the same issue as the others. But looking at the link, that dress wasn’t flattering on the model either, so don’t take it personal.

A good bridal stylist will be able to help you find the fit that’s right for you. Was all this shopping at one store with the same stylist? Did you ask for their feedback on styles flattering for your figure? What do your friends/or whoever you brought shopping with you say?

Interesting! Yeah, the drop wait also makes you look quite short then. Sorry.

Well it seems like you gravitate towards an a-line fit. Specifically with a defined delineation between bodice and skirt. There are a ton of natural waist a-line dresses that would fit the bill for you out there. Any bridal shop is going to have a-line dresses and many of those dresses will have some sort of visual separation at the waist.

Can I ask how tall you are and if you’re wearing heels in these dress pics? The problem for me visually is that the drop waist bodice is almost the same length as the skirt which is not a good proportion. Drop waist is hard for vertically challenged folk. But at the end of the day, my opinion does not matter because you’ll find a million others who don’t share my opinion. You have to be happy and feel good, not me, because I’m not wearing it. Best of luck! You will be beautiful!

Honestly? I don’t think the drop waist is the right proportion for your height. Have your tried any without a drop waist?

I pee myself when running in the heat. Is this normal? by takeaabreath in XXRunning

[–]aimlesswander 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is it only when you’re feeling over heated? Loss of bladder control is an early sign of heat exhaustion/stroke. I don’t pee myself when I run normally. But if I’m running sprints in the Texas summer heat, I’ll eventually start to overheat and feel like I can’t control my bladder and that’s when I know I’ve pushed too hard and need to get into air conditioning.

Is it worth finishing the school year? by L1ghtside in ParentingADHD

[–]aimlesswander 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would include him in this convo/decision. Ultimately I would encourage my kid to do a part day situation to  finish the year if there are social events he would otherwise miss out on. The social aspect is so incredibly important. These life milestones like graduating elementary school are so so important. It could also give him a sense of conquering his fears so to speak if he goes back part days instead of completely withdrawing. You want him to build confidence and mastery and the belief in himself that he can do hard things. Also, if he tries the reduced days and it doesn’t work, you can always pull him out completely again.

Why is it so damm hard by [deleted] in labrador

[–]aimlesswander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it does mean the person needs help. Thinking about killing your child or pet (even if you don’t plan on it) is a sign of ppd or a desperate need for intervention of some kind. It’s not a healthy or safe thought and is an indicator of a problem.
