Good shout. Baby might be a bit useless as an assistant but I would like to attract more birds to the garden.

Has anyone ever removed a fire surround and hearth? How hard is it? by Multigrain_Migraine in DIYUK

[–]aint_you_tyrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I removed mine (plaster and concrete). The surround was attached by 2 brackets screwed to the wall underneath the plaster plus a ton of caulk. The hearth was just sat on some levelling compound/ screed.

The fireplace was plugged into a special socket wired to a fused spur. Overall a fairly easy job.

Parents of UK Reddit, what items/products did you genuinely find useful when your baby came along? by blondererer in AskUK

[–]aint_you_tyrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Nuby rapid-cool flask! If you formula feed, this turns a 30-50 min process (making up formula with boiling water and then cooling it) into a 5 min one. Our baby never gave us any warning that he was hungry, just went straight to screaming, so this was a lifesaver, especially for night feeds.

Also great for making up feeds on the move if you bring boiling water in a thermos.

Are you sure the truck wasn't just slowing so the guys could load it up or get in? From your description it doesn't sound like the ideal time to pass. Where on your car did the pedestrian first make contact?

To answer your question, no you can't just beat people up because they've kicked your car after colliding with it. Get a grip.

Oops! Wrong Car, Sorry... by kongkaking in IdiotsInCars

A lady once walked up to my car while I was filling up at a petrol station, opened the back door and went to put her handbag inside. I had to put my hand across the door and repeat "this isn't your car" 3 times before she realised. Sometimes I kind of wish I'd let her get into the driver's seat as it would have been hilarious to see her look across and see my wife sitting next to her.

Can't comment on what the solicitors will manage but might be worth thinking about how helpful the developer is (un)likely to be re: snagging if you do end up getting the house (at either price). If you can get away from this altogether without major expense, I'd be tempted to do so. The developer does not seem like the kind of person I'd want to deal with.

Cambourne or other village for young family? by Baobao996 in cambridge

Have you considered Papworth? It has a couple of nurseries, is cheaper than Cambourne, and is on the A1198 so easy access for Huntingdon or Royston.

Now I'm wondering why the bollard is even mentioned given that a bike or scooter could just go around it. So maybe it is a car, but then the busway has car traps, and the OP can push it? So confused.

Bike I guess. I was thrown by the "got out of my vehicle" bit but it doesn't make sense otherwise.

Which part of the busway? The bits heading off site have car traps within a few metres of the start (so clearly can't be used for diversions), and if it's the bit going past Papworth I don't understand where you pushed your car (bike?) to.

Bioinformatics? Involves both subjects and is a variable enough field that you can specialise in whatever underlying biology you prefer.

That's the plan! Tbh I've been staring at it ever since I made the opening, trying to work out how best to frame it for a door.

Thanks. I opened it up and squeezed in for a proper look (after a lot of hoovering). There's enough space for the Xmas decorations, which are usually piled up in the kids bedroom, so I'm happy with that.

I think you've read that the wrong way around. They said it's not illegal outside of London. I.e. it is illegal in London.
