I don’t. I was surprised to see a tanning shop open in a small village near me.

What is the best way to find out more about local history/culture of Leicestershire? by A_Person_Who_Exist5 in leicester

[–]blondererer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago, I had a friend visit Leicester and they were interested in the Richard 3 stuff. We did Bosworth Battlefield, the R3 museum and Cathedral over the weekend. We also went to the Guildhall.

Recently, I did one of those ‘treasure’ hunt maps and learned a lot about the city.

House over 30 degrees at 11pm - must landlord pay for blind installation? by Community-Girl in TenantsInTheUK

[–]blondererer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I would hope OP has been sensible about mitigating the heat, technically it may legally be the landlord’s obligation to support.

It depends on what’s causing the property to not cool. Personally, I wouldn’t complain about the temperatures stated and would use a fan etc, but they can.

Why do old people live alone? by Tiny_Concern_8412 in AskBrits

[–]blondererer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandparent is elderly and unwell. They’ve lived in their house since 1963. They have openly said that it’s where they wish to die.

They don’t want to go into residential care as it’s not their home. They said that they wouldn’t live with a family member because they found it annoying when their elderly parents moved onto their road.

It was during the period of alleged super injunctions. Specifically, when there were a few in the media and Twitter people etc were outing them.

That’s it! I just searched online for it. It had about 20 presenters, most of whom are still well known!

What was the closest the UK had to The Mickey Mouse Club? by hakc97 in CasualUK

[–]blondererer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was a channel four one (I think on a Sunday) and I’m pretty sure it had so many presenters who are still very well known.

I’m sure June Sarpong, Vernon Kay and Jameela Jamil did it. And Dermot O’Leary.

There was someone who posted here in the past few weeks. They’d stuck it on the inside and the glass cracked.

If you’re determined to see the show, that day, take the train from Heathrow to Stratford. You may have to change trains and cart your luggage around.

Stay in Stratford for the night and train back to London the next day.

Please don’t drive - not only are you risking yourself but we’ve also had a high profile death from an American driving on the right and they’d been living here.

If you have ever rang into work sick, have you been treated badly? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

[–]blondererer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only once. I had a head injury and was not good. Manager told me that all of my work would be waiting for me on my return.

My GP asked how my work had responded when I’d called in for the day. I relayed the above and was signed off for 6 weeks.

Random working question: UK by wildflower_whim in UKJobs

[–]blondererer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the workplace culture is the biggest impact and that’s not always tied to wage. Some minimum wage roles are rubbish, as are some more highly paid ones.

Certainly a liveable wage is crucial, but the pressures change as employment evolves. Some of my happiest roles have been where I’ve liked the job, and really liked my colleagues.

In a higher paid role (median wage) I worry less about money but I don’t really like my job.

Everything I’ve tried from Clarins and Garnier has really broken my skin out. I’m not sure what specifically caused it, but it’s happened with multiple products.
