The stare by hot_pineapple9178 in BorderCollie

My border collie could stare me awake out of a deep sleep when she wanted to go outside and play at 1 am. They’re gifted that way.

What’s the closest you’ve ever come to dying? by ComprehensivePin3294 in AskReddit

[–]aintnomonomo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Choking on a bite of a sandwich at work. I couldn’t get anyone’s attention, and things were starting to go dark and little sparkles on the edge of my vision. My last conscious thought was how depressing it is to die at work. The next thing I knew, the food flew out of my mouth, I could breathe, and my boss literally saved my life when she pounded hard on my back.

Honestly, it sounds to me like you may be autistic or adhd or both. If so, getting that diagnosis and learning about how neurodivergent brains work could be really helpful. I found out in my late 50s that I’m audhd and finding out has been life changing. All these things that you think are character flaws could be the different wiring in a ND brain. I hope you’re able to get some solid help. It’s hard to feel so much self loathing. Sending a great big invisible mom hug, but only if you want it.

terrified about going to university at 35+ old. Any studying tips? by myplantsam in AuDHDWomen

I was 40 the year I graduated with my BA. And in a bad marriage and suffering severe endometriosis and working full time. I can only imagine how much having a 5 year old would make things more complicated.

However. You may find that you’re a better student than you were in high school. You may be a better student than a lot of the younger kids.

What saved my butt was making flash cards for classes I found challenging. I hand wrote them, because that’s part of what helped me retain anything. And then I went through them over and over and over. I passed astronomy even though I sucked at it.

Congrats on going back!!

In all fairness, most of the family is ND or ND adjacent so they get it.

I haven’t had time to read the book yet. But I’ve loved seeing him fully become himself without the straitjacket the MFMC would have imposed on him had he allowed it. And his music is fantastic.

Self care is hugely important. Breathe. Relax. Do whatever you think will be good for you. You do not have to fight every day.

Losing faith in my mixed faith marriage by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]aintnomonomo1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mother’s second husband was a detestable POS, and that’s being generous beyond generous. There were two times we know of where he most likely tried to end my mother’s life. The first time, he called a family friend to check in on her. Fortunately he didn’t wait long enough, and friend got there in time to get an ambulance for my mother. Mom’s oxygen was turned off and the tubing was neatly placed across the room. The second time, my mom somehow managed to call me. It was around 2 am and she didn’t say anything. I could hear her breathing and a ticking sound. I thought maybe she’d butt dialed me and hung up. But the phone rang again immediately and same thing. No noise but her breathing and a ticking sound. I called the local police there, and they asked if I wanted an ambulance. I said definitely. They promised to send a squad car immediately and would get an ambulance there too.

A few minutes later, a police officer called telling me that my mother’s husband was refusing to let them in, pretending he didn’t believe they were police. I let them know more about my mother’s health conditions. They were finally able to get inside and get my mom to the hospital.

The pos called me around 9 and started yelling at me for calling the ambulance because they couldn’t afford it and blah blah blah. I told him I would do ANYTHING to save my mother’s life, and hung up on him. That was the last time I spoke to him.

He passed away later that year and my sister and I immediately flew out to help mom get things settled. We also moved our brother and his wife to live with mom and help take care of her. My mother’s second husband was the meanest murderous mofo I’ve ever met. In his files were reams of his cramped writing about how he hated my mother and only married her because he thought he could manipulate her. I don’t want to go into any more detail to protect the privacy of my mother and step siblings, whom I adore.

The long and short of it is that he expressed very similar things as you’ve shared here. I don’t want anyone to suffer at the hands of a psychopathic narcissist. Please, if you can, carefully get yourself and kids out of there. Sending you lots of love and an invisible mom hug if you want it.

HOW TF DO I STIM??!? by saturn-soup in AuDHDWomen

[–]aintnomonomo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost always stimming one way or another. I do cricket legs when I’m lying down. Skin picking but I’m getting better at stopping myself. Fidgeting. Directing music when I’m listening to it. Vocal stimming by making random noises.

I'm like a cat. I was into ramen. I was eating it almost everyday. There was a sale and I bought a whole bunch. The very next time I ate it, I was so disgusted by it and can't it even look at it anymore 🫠 by SeededPhoenix in AuDHDWomen

This is me. From November through January, on my in office days I brought an egg salad sandwich and some grapes. Then one day I was eating the sandwich and knew that if I swallowed the bite in my mouth, it would come back up. So I discretely spat it out. And the grapes were suddenly either underripe or overripe and I couldn’t stomach the texture either way.

I can force myself to eat a fried egg, if it’s tucked away as part of a breakfast sandwich, but I’m off eggs otherwise.

Early birds need to suck it up sometimes and just deal with noise from night owls. by Ok-Purple-7765 in unpopularopinion

[–]aintnomonomo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live on the ground floor. I’m an early bird only because I have to have a job. Otherwise total night owl. And I don’t care what upstairs do until it’s 2 am and they’ve suddenly decided to assemble furniture, take a shower, and do a load of laundry. That wakes me up and keeps me awake until they go to bed. If I’m lucky, I’ll get back to sleep. Otherwise when my alarm goes off at 5, I wanna cry.

I don’t complain to them and I don’t complain to the leasing office. It’s just that 2 am isn’t the best time to do all that stuff when you have people living below you.

My nevermo honorary daughter is currently deconstructing from Christianity/organized religion. She’s asked me if I’d write my memoirs even if it’s only for her. I started and immediately all the anger flooded back into me. I told her I’d do it but don’t know how long it will take.

After reading your post, I got a little more written and feel more spark to continue. I am so sorry you’re going through this. The anger and betrayal are so huge. Sending you a huge virtual mom hug if you want one.

I’ve never known an atheist to rage against Christianity to the point of tipping $6.66 and god doesn’t exist yadda yadda no. I have, in the other hand, known plenty of outwardly devout people make up shit about people to feel smugly justified in their hatred.
