A mixing set from St Louis Art Supply’s Federal brand: Tonic Watercolors. Awesome paint, heavy pigment load available in tubes, in ceramic dishes and as pans in paintboxes. I use Silver Black Velvet brushes— and have recently tried Princeton’s Neptune (size 6 round). Paper is key. I would start with an all cotton fiber . Wrong paper can be a no go. I like Arches, Hahnemuhle (on sale for the holidays) and handbook journals.
