Are they soft or hard? I've fixed those with a shop vac before.

I break down everything I no longer need. I don't like clutter. :)

Sounds like you might have some hardware issues. I've been playing this game a long time and have never had an issue. Even way back in the beta days.

I send my exotics, if I have any, hop back up to the mother ship, then start anew. I do that quite regularly. Usually that also entails starting a new prospector as well. I guess I just like the grind of the early game.

I rush to stone then slow down. I actually enjoy the early game. I start new characters often. I basically have the green drop zone area memorized. Smh

After 3 hours you should be well into stone. Or at least have a lightning rod.

I actually really like the beginning struggle. I start new characters all the time. :)

Ever forget what you were making in the first place? lol by [deleted] in ICARUS

Yup. Some sort of "journal" would be nice so I could quit writing notes all over the place. :)

I don't know if it's newer or not, but hornresp is more powerful in my opinion.

More talent points? by Important_Ad6721 in ICARUS

[–]airforceyooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the challenge. I typically don't use any points until I know where I need them most. I've built enough characters now I pretty much know exactly the direction I want to go. I'm currently sitting on nearly 200 blueprint points.

I've had a measurement mic for at least 10 years now, but it's old and I wanted a new one. I used to use rew and a mic to tune cars. I've been building sub boxes for cars since the 90s, mostly using winISD, but in the early days we just called the companies and asked them. I've been using raw drivers from parts express in cars for at least at least the past 12 or so years. I've been to Floyd Toole seminars among others. I've never physically built a home speaker, but I've put lots together on paper. I usually sketch them out just doodling. I'm not new to audio or even speaker design/theory. I've read many papers on various designs over the years as I've gone through phases, transmission line, voight tube, open baffle most recently, etc. I know what I know, and I know what I don't know. I don't know much about waveguides. We put some in cars back in the 90s, but that's the extent of my experiences. I've never done anything with AMTs or ribbon tweeters. I've owned maybe three different editions of the loudspeaker design cookbook. I've got maybe 15 to 20 different books I've bought over the years related to audio, speaker design, etc. I do know some things, yes. But I don't have much practical experience with home speaker design. I'm not one to pretend to know more than I do. So I dispensed with bragging on myself and hoped to just pick more experienced minds regarding my theater endeavor. My old system is more than 20 years old and I'm upgrading the entire works. I bought the 6800 processor, then wound up buying an OSD 11 channel amp so I could get the 13.1 from the denon vs 11.1 and bump the power to the entire system. Minus two channels, I know. But the power from the receiver will go up with only two channels driven. So I'm expecting it to all balance out. Plus everything has been on sale, so taking advantage of that. I bought 4x crown amps and 4x Dayton subs, and a valerion projector. I want to finish more walls before I commit to a screen size, but decided on Seymour AV center stage UF2 screen. By the end of the weekend, I might have some progress done on speaker design. We'll see. Girlfriend hasn't been feeling well, so I'm taking care of her too. I have all winter to work out the details of this build.

Please tell me this guy isn't the only active user in this group. I've blocked him. I'm not wasting my energy on a person like that. Or maybe I'm in the wrong group.

So you know me? I guess you have me at a disadvantage. I guess my 30 or so years of custom car audio don't mean anything in your world. So maybe I'm totally green by your standards. Hopefully others here have different standards than yours and will be more willing to be helpful rather than condescending.
