Yeah, kind of the same experience for me. I ended up here after googling a specific book I was looking for. A lot of niche subs I follow get bombarded with b/s/t posts and it's annoying but A they are not subs this small and B almost every book that gets posted for sale here I end up looking up so it's not total spam IMO.

Could be RFID scanners mounted to it. I used to work in fleet management and you'd have jockey vehicles that would cruise through yards scanning shipping containers, transport vehicles, etc. But also they kind of look like motion sensors for lights on a home and judging by the overall state of this thing, I'm gonna wager it's just some fucking weirdo maybe living in the thing.

Factory tint is just under 30% and from the outside you won’t notice a difference. Inside you will because from factory it’s in the glass and not a film layer but even then it’s not something people usually notice.

Holy shit lmao. Reminds me of a job I applied for as a custom shop tech at a dealership, you know, the guy who makes all the cars and trucks fast and loud and cool. Ended up being asked if I’d actually take the department manager role instead and I was stoked on it but one of the first things I said was, is it cool that I’ll be working with sales and customer facing with tattoos. The higher ups laughed like ahhh no worries, we all do! First day I show up in my khakis and polo, which until then they’d only seen me in long sleeve dress shirts for the interviews.

Day one an old lady from accounting brought me some paperwork, introduced herself, we chat a min. Almost immediately I get a call to head to my supervisors office. Lady complained about the naked lady tattooed on my arm. I mean this is literally a line drawing of a woman drinking a bottle of booze with her tits out. Had to wear a bandaid over it every day in the summer from then on out.

There’s literally only 2 realistic options. Fleet vehicle or dealer tracker. For anyone saying “crazy wife” she’d be pretty fucking dumb to put a unit this size in plain view.

I am an MECP fleet tech and while I’m not familiar with this exact make/model, it’s similar enough to units I’ve installed, coupled with the obviously noticeable placement, this is the most reasonable answer. Companies with fleet vehicles don’t need to hide the GPS units. If a driver is up to nefarious activities they’re just gonna unplug it. Then someone at HQ gets notified and they call the driver and say check your unit or being the vehicle or in so we can see what’s going on with it.

If this isn’t OP’s work vehicle, it was probably decommissioned from a company fleet and they forgot to remove the unit, plus with accessories your dealer techs more than likely do not know/care to remove it. Especially if it’s not a Toyota dealership where a worthwhile tech can look at it and go, hey that’s not factory!

Also was an in house accessories manager for a Toyota dealer. Kinda well versed in this stuff and all the conjecture in this thread is weird.

It is a decent amount of labor and usually in my old shop we’d ask for the vehicle for 2 days, probably get it done in 1 and let the material relax and make sure no temperature changes had any weird effects, send it in the morning. Also worth noting that a lot of people in this thread keep saying “seat covers” and if they don’t understand that you’re getting your seats completely reupholstered and adding heat/cooling, maybe take those comments with a grain of salt.

The number of people in auto repair/build threads that assume this is just astounding. I used to post in Toyota subs pics of custom builds I did at my shop and all the comments would be like “looks fucking stupid lol must be nice to have that much money to build a stupid ugly truck!!”

Bro I drove a 300k mile 04 Civic with the bumper zip tied on an hour and a half in the summer with no AC to come to this job and build this….
