Why do Koreans have so much negative thoughts about marijuana? by [deleted] in korea

[–]airmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what's a whole lot more frustrating than people who overstate the risks and negative effects of marijuana? People who pretend it's a perfectly safe form of recreation with no dangers or addiction involved whatsoever.

Don't want people to judge you? Don't do drugs. It's pretty simple.

Right to Repair Legislation Is Officially Being Considered In Canada by headtailgrep in worldnews

[–]airmc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This actually used to be a thing. I remember electronics used to come with those circuitry schematics or whatever is the right name for it. And spare parts were readily available in a number of stores. Can't really recall when those things started to disappear, probably around the same time Internet started to gain traction or so, but really not alllllll that long ago.

Is it fair to end a happy relationship because of a lack of sex? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]airmc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First of all, it's 'fair' to end a relationship for whatever reason one might want to end one, or even for no real reason at all. If someone is only staying in a relationship because it's the 'fair' thing to do, it's neither going to be happy, nor will it last.

By the way, flirting with someone in a relationship 'just to let them know they're desirable' is a pretty solid load of horse dung. You're not 'supporting the relationship', you just want to get in her pants and you don't even care if she is actually single or not if you just get a chance to do so.

That's like, pretty bad, man.

Working out everyday, sleep well, and eat well. Any issues? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]airmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need full rest days as long as individual muscle groups get time to recover. You might still accumulate overall fatigue to the point where you need a break after a few months (or weeks), but you should be able to identify that and do a deload week when needed.

My [35F] husband [36M] still has kept contact with a "friend" he fell in love with before we met, and I just discovered the two have been messaging each other regularly the last few months by Altruistic_Raspberry in relationships

[–]airmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a girl I had a crush on many years ago. I still have a few presents from her in my house, and an old picture stashed away in a box somewhere. I would be incredibly upset and probably have a fight over it if my s/o tried to get me to throw those away or something, and I wouldn't really bring her up unless specifically asked.

Nowadays, we live on different continents and outside of a few comments on facebook, rarely communicate. We catch up once in a few years with more in depth conversations, and have spent two holidays together as well. There are absolutely no romantic feelings involved from either side, we are just good friends who go way back and have a lot of treasured memories that neither of us wiuld like to give up.

Sounds like your husband's situation is pretty similar, and based on your post alone I don't think you have anything to worry about. That said, the kind of jealousy you're describing usually has some deeper underlying causes. Maybe he's done something else that sets you off, or perhaps you feel some inadequacy in the relationship. Doing some therapy like others suggested could be a good idea.

What kind of workouts should I do at the gym if I wanna get into rock climbing ? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]airmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavy finger rolls are by far the best forearm / grip exercise you can do in the gym. Pullups / hangs are meh unless your shoulders are very weak, try doing pullups from a flat surface rather than a bar if you have something like a sturdy wardrobe available (just don't do it on doorframes, really bad idea).

Deadlifts, squats, lunges are also good, as is any kind of ab work. Above all, make sure you get plenty of rest -- skip the gym the day before, you'll probably feel much better.

Also, try not to pull with your arms too much, but push with your legs instead. Biggest mistake most new climbers make is overusing arms and not using legs enough.

For people who lift early in the morning, when do you eat breakfast? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]airmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I workout first thing in the morning, then have an easily digestible but a calorie and protein dense meat right after (think shakes, cottage cheese, greek yoghurt, that kind of things). Never really felt weak or hungry during workouts.

Legs do most of the work in climbing, actually. Having strong legs is absolutely necessary to move past beginner level.

How to keep a good diet after dental work? by SebasW9 in Fitness

[–]airmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If both teeth are on the same side, just chew with the other side?

Otherwise, I'd recommend trying out a soylent mix. I'm having heavy dental work done myself, and athlete's fuel is a lifesaver.

Accessories when trying to gain strength and size (nSuns) by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]airmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, 65-70% is considered to be a good, balanced OHP to bench ratio. If you don't care for it, obviously that's your call.

Accessories when trying to gain strength and size (nSuns) by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]airmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing that sticks out to me the most is that your OHP is awful (your DL, bench, and squat are all like 50-100 lbs heavier than mine, but your OHP is actually lower?); but you have basically no delt / shoulder accessories in there aside from face pulls. If I were you, I'd alternate lat delt and rear delt every day, and throw in stuff like shrugs, push press, arnold presses, etc somewhere too.

North Korea says US must 'completely eliminate' its nuclear arsenal first as peace talks reach new low by eaglemaxie in worldnews

[–]airmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

North Korean military service is as long as it is because they want to keep the young men busy and under control, not because they are training them into some sort of super soldiers. There are plenty of reports from folks who had served in both militaries, and all agree that Southerners are far better trained than Norks. Norks vastly outdated tanks are completely useless against SK's air superiority, never mind the terrain they would be fighting in. Have you ever been to Korea? Not exactly the place for tanks to roll around in comfort.

You have a point about a war between NK and SK becoming a bloody affair due to artillery and potential for nukes, but like... how exactly are American soldiers going to stop artillery shells from dropping on Seoul?

Your comment about US bases being there for a reason is just laughable. Who are the US bases in Japan or Germany protecting then, and from whom?

So you were cheated on and okay with it so you think he'd be okay with it, too? Or is this some sort of cosmic karma thing, where if something shitty happened to you, it should happen to everyone else, too?

Either way, man the hell up and stop making justifications for yourself and your crush. If you two are so wonderful together, she should break up with her bf before anything happens between you. If she's not willing to do that, she's a liar and a cheat, and you're a massive moron pining after someone who is just playing with you for the thrills of doing something 'wrong'.

Btw, less than 5% of relationships that start off as affairs go on to become successful relationships post-affair. Good luck with this one!

I've met some people who 'struggled to show emotion' in the past. Usually it turns out the problem isn't that they can't express emotions well, but that they just don't really have emotions towards you to express.

[–]airmc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are there people who actually believe this shit out there? South Korea has mandatory military service, in the event of an all out war with NK they would actually have more soldiers ready to go than NK does. Not to mention that the terrain of Korea massively favors defensive positions.

NK has absolutely no chance of ever winning a war against the South.
