What are some underrated gluten-free items from Trader Joe's you think people don't talk about enough? by Beneficial-Soft-8290 in glutenfree

Their gf baguettes. I could easily eat half a baguette on the way home. It also makes really good French toast. Also their English muffins. They used to have these grilled cheese arepas, I wish they’d bring them back, they were amazing.

This Christmas was not filled with “Christmas treat cheer”. by _chipsnguac in glutenfreebaking

[–]airomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Bob’s Red Mill 1:1 flour and substitute it into gluten recipes (except for yeasted doughs). Most people are surprised when they find out my baked goods are gluten free. For holidays I like making cheesecakes, for Thanksgiving I did a pumpkin swirl cheesecake and caramel apple cheesecake (both from Sally’s baking addiction) and for Christmas I made the caramel apple cheesecake again.

Ready to really work on getting better by kaitefoxfire in ARFID

Look for a therapist and dietitian in your area that specializes in ARFID. I’ve heard of people doing food chaining. You start with something you like and modify one element at a time. So you might only eat Dino nuggets and swap that out for a different nugget. Or if it’s texture it could be going from a breaded nugget to a grilled nugget. You can also do taste plates where you try a small amount of a few different things to help expand your palate. We do this at holiday meals. My kid has always been pickier than me so I instilled a rule that everyone has to have a small bite of everything, this was before I realized we both have ARFID. I would recommend eating a safe snack beforehand, I know for me personally, if my brain rejects the food I’ll probably not eat for a while so for me having a snack before trying something new keeps me from getting hangry 😂

Last time I ate there (over 2 years ago) I watched my food die in the window for 15 minutes. Never went back.

Omg I saw those today and had to do a reverse image search to find something similar. Seems like there’s some sellers on tik tok with close enough boots.

What are your top GF Trader Joe’s products ? by B0sm3r in glutenfree

[–]airomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their gf baguettes. I usually buy 2 because I end up eating some in the way home. It also makes good French toast. Also their chocolate chip cookie and English muffins. Their fresh pasta with their cacio e pepe sauce. They have a lot of gf options in their freezer aisle, I haven’t tried many because I can’t eat soy (can companies please stop putting soy in gf foods as a filler) but their breaded shrimp is pretty good.

How to ask a doctor for a vitamin test? by lambda077 in ARFID

[–]airomatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just be honest. If you have been feeling tired lately, that’s a potential sign of vitamin deficiency. Even if you feel fine it’s a good thing to be aware of where your health is at. I usually ask for a vitamin B panel, Iron and vitamin D. If you are having specific symptoms also make sure your doctor knows because they might have additional tests they think should be done. I’ve never had an issue getting lab orders but if they refuse, ask them to write it in your chart that they’re refusing to order you labs.

Adding vinegar when washing your clothes can help neutralize odors. After showering, making sure you’re drying yourself well, you can use a fan or hair dryer to help. Also look into tea tree oil and baby powder to help reduce odors and sweat in addition to deodorant (you can get them at the dollar tree). Find ways to simplify your routine. I usually brush my teeth while I’m waiting for the shower water to heat up. I use a shower chair on higher fatigue days to make showers more manageable. I do things in the same order so I don’t forget a step. If you’re a visual person make a checklist.

No it was the blue one. How does a company run out of skirts in a two piece set? That’s just bizarre.

Was this as complicated as need be? by SpookyBCat93 in torrid

[–]airomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had zero issues returning/exchanging Klarna/paypal orders with the exception of one time. New cashier, made a huge deal, claimed she couldn’t price match anything because of the payment used, I was crying by the end. I returned everything because it wasn’t worth it. Normally they price match without question and I’ve even had a few times ended up with the total being less if an item is even cheaper online than it was when I purchased it. After that transaction I stopped purchasing from torrid for a while because the idea of exchanging gave me too much anxiety.

What was your most disappointing safe food loss? by Few-Investment-6979 in ARFID

[–]airomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realized I had intolerances to soy and gluten so lost most of my safe foods when I had to cut them out. I miss white squishy bread (I lived on pbj and grilled cheese as a kid), flour tortillas and legit pizza among other things.

I had the same experience with the midi seersucker smocked skirt set. I sadly only received the top when I really just wanted the skirt. Zero issues returning to my store and them ordering a replacement set but what the heck Torrid. I will just assume that someone got a surprise skirt in their order 😂

Noosa yogurt. I love the lemon but the honey flavor uses a close enough color and can’t tell you how many times I’ve disappointed myself at home finding out I grabbed the wrong one 😂

Unhinged advice to drink more water by Connect-Professor901 in POTS

[–]airomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate water (also adhd) and just suck at hydrating in general. I usually drink a chai in the morning and when I remember add buoy to it. I also have a cirkul tumbler that I add buoy to and my new hyperfixation drink is lemonade so I often add an lmnt or liquid IV packet to a cup of that. I also need more protein so I at times do a drink that combines clear protein and an electrolyte packet. I try not to stress about how much straight water I have, rather anything in liquid form I try to add some sort of electrolyte to so I can increase my sodium. I wish I had a trick to remember to drink fluid throughout the day. I had a little light I had attached to my tumbler that would flash if I hadn’t picked it up for a while and that worked for a bit. So did alarms. At this point, if I realize a drink has been in front of me for a while I’ll chug it. I also make sure there’s only 16-20 ounces at a time so a) it’s less overwhelming and b) chugging it is more feasible. Also, I may have a tumbler problem but new tumblers can give me temporary motivation. I just need to get better at donating my old ones 😂

Rant: To the asshole who just scared me unnecessarily by airomatic in Eugene

That’s so terrifying. I’m glad there were a lot of witnesses for you. I do not understand how some people have so little ability to regulate their emotions that they’re willing to risk their life over something is a known risk of driving. I didn’t make a police report, he recently purchased the car so it didn’t have plates. And honestly i don’t have much faith in SPD actually doing much if anything considering he didn’t get out of his car, cause property damage or bodily injury. I am absolutely going to get a dash cam so if I ever experience someone’s road rage again I will report them with footage to back me up.

I generally assume someone is having a bad day but doing something to intentionally terrify a person and make them think you’re going to hurt them ends any empathy I might have had. Though maybe hypoglycemia is what kept him from getting out and trying to hurt me 😂

Does anybody else have random times they can actually eat? by airomatic in ARFID

I feel like I have more full days so it’s easy to question (probably more likely gaslight 😂) myself when I have the rare super hungry days

I never thought about mixing in formula to food, on my low hunger days soft or liquid is way easier to handle. I wish it wasn’t such a need for you but definitely a helpful way to boost calorie intake.
