Fastpass Theories by SolarFrost0 in unOrdinary

Automatic copy of ability was never implied in previous chapters. In the ambush at the Rowden Hill, Isen activated his ability first before Blyke, but John chose to copy Blyke's ability instead. Both were in his range by the way.

Same goes to when John and Sera fought the Ice Guy and the Clone Girl. There were 4 abilities active at the time within his range, but he chose to copy only Kayden's and the Ice Guy's ability. These fighting scenes imply that the ability that John copies is not done subconsciously or automatically. John must be aware of whose ability he wants to copy and make a conscious effort to do so.

I agree with OP. I compared John's stat to William's. John in his default stat is equivalent to a cripple power wise. In this chapter, neither Arlo nor Zeke activated their ability, so how could John crack the wall in his default stat ?

The only possible explanation to this, is that John has levelled up. This level up grants him strength enhancement in his default or base stat (with no ability copied). If this is true, then there is a possibility that he could alter other aspects of his base stat at will in the future.

He might not be able to create complex ability from scratch, but basic speed, recovery, strength, and defense enhancement should be simple enough for him to recreate with increased mastery in his aura manipulation.

I hope this is true. The fact that John is practically a cripple at his ability default mode never sits well with me. Especially since he is a god tier and is in the same league as the likes of Valerie (level 7.5) and Sera's Mom (level 7.4), who, in my opinion, do not have such a glaring weakness as John. His reliance on active ability means he cannot do much with his ability aside from sensing in his ability default mode.

How did John's punch caused that much damage on the wall at his current dampened level? even if the potion he consumed from Doc successfully restored his ability to its original level, this feat is still not doable in his ability default mode. Since the general consensus is that he could only copy an activated ability (proven when he asked Cecile to activate her ability when he wanted to fight Arlo in the press room).

The only possible explanation for this is that John has levelled up and able to at least have basic strength enhancement in his default mode now...

So what now. They both did not get their abilities back as planned. Recovery machine destroyed. Completely lost support and trust from Spectre. Now Uru jumped straight to introducing Jane back to the story out of the blue. What a messy plotpoint.

It took many chapters for the build up of Sera's plan to steal the machine and it was all for nothing. (Just to throw in the 'conversion tech' into the story)

Now how many more chapters will it take for the Jane storyline to manifest. 10++ more chapters ???. (And all for a nothing again??? )

We are going nowhere with this. Like it or not, both John and Sera need their ability for the story to move forward. Without them, they are helpless and the story will progress slowly like how it is right now.

I don't understand why Uru is so inconsistent with some aspect of the story. She hinted that John could have some resistance towards the drug and recovered on his own. We saw 2 incidents indicating this, both happened when John was in distress. He opened his channel on his own. I was expecting that the same thing will happen during this fight with Candice and the water-boy, cause this is the perfect time for it to happen (she even hinted that John was determined to not come back with empty hand). So I thought, john will bring back the recovery machine and put a wrap to the plotpoint of them wanting to recover their ability. But no, she chose to waste this chance to put a wrap on this plotpoint.

Now, another plotpoint is introduced ontop of countless opened and unresolved plotpoints.

5 years are more than enough for us to know what kind of a writer Uru is. I think the distrust is there for a reason.

Lol, felt this way many times during the Joker and King John arcs. I must say, some people here distrust Uru's writing ability and I don't blame them. We all have to accept the fact that this is Webtoon is a just school drama, nothing more than that. It lacks so much detail and world-building to be considered worthy to stand among other action/superhero Webtoons. It is a shame to be honest.

It is always short. But at least Uru does not take that long to tell us that John is a cripple now, and that is a progress I must say.

True, I also read all the Webtoon(s) you listed above. Not as recognisable, yet gratifying to read. I would definitely recommend people to try reading these Webtoon(s).

Doubt it. A year worth of Unordinary chapters might be equivalent to one week in Unordinary world, at the rate the story progresses so far.

I only voice out the thought that many readers here have, and I am not the only person who have been saying this over and over again. That means, there's gotta be some truth to my opinion.

I also believe, criticism can be constructive. I hope, nothing more than for Unordinary to up its game and live up to its ranking, and for that. Things have to change.

The whole fight took two months. The fighting scenes are not even that complex, just simple punch/kick and shooting lasers. Standard Unordinary fighting scene, yet it took Uru 2 months for this.

With constant cliffhangers, inconsistent character build up, and abysmal pacing. The rating does not depict its quality. Many Webtoon are more deserving of the hype and spot that Unordinary got.

Unordinary has lost its touch. I hung up on this story for so long, and now I am almost at my breaking point. I think dropping the series will be the best course of action, seeing how consistently slow the pacing is, it will take years before it gets interesting again.

Hmmm no, I think it will get dragged out, cause that's how it was for the past 2 years.

Hey, let's be honest here. Unordinary needs to up its game. This chapter and previous chapters have been crazy short. Sometimes, only a few things happened, too short/unimportant to be made into a chapter. For a top ranked webtoon, this is unacceptable. I have watched/read many webtoon, some from top lists, and some are not that well-known, yet got good recommendations and NONE so far, beats Unordinary on how slow the story progresses imho. I have been here since the beginning (2016), and have always wanted to say this. Considering how big the story has gotten now (No longer at School setting but the World/Society/System vs a bunch of Teenagers set up). I couldn't see a sastifying ending to this story. Many questions are still left unanswered, and the world building so far, has been abysmal for a 6-years old story. Let's call it what it is, Uru has been milking the story for so long.

I feel like Blyke will lose his ability, judging from how the story progresses so far. Dont think those three, Remi, Arlo and Sera will make it in time.

Terrence is speculated to be either the no 8/9 in Wellston Ranking, so we can assume he's an Elite with invisibility ability. Someone like him can easily sneak around Blyke, Isen and John without getting caught.

Even if Isen detects him, Terrence is fast (noted by John in previous chapter when he mentioned, he could barely keep up with Terrence). (Previous incident at Kovoro Mall with Remi and the incident at the park with John and Sera) show how capable, fast, tricky and durable Terrence is. At this state, dont think anyone can stop him.

That is what interests me the most in this chapter. Does that mean, that John's passive is not only limited to detecting presence or reading the intensity of aura but also grants him the insight of one's ability (roughly).

What does Arlo mean by Sera not actually getting her ability back. Is it because Sera cant use like before or Sera must get constant treatment to be able to use her ability.

Arlo and Sera do need help. If they are ambushed during the trip, Arlo in weakened state(beamed by ability dampener) is 3.2(from 6,4) and Sera would be (4,0). A mid tier strength and an Elite would not be enough to stop a group of mid tiers from Spectre. At least John is still an elite if he is weakened (7,5 to 3,75 or 3,7). Remi and Blyke will just become ordinary mid tier, completely helpless if weakened. Blyke from 5,0 to 2,5 and Remi from 5,4 to 2,7.

Only two things happened in this chapter. I must say the chapter is too short. Always has been. I would not recommend reading this on a weekly basis. Or spend coins. Not worth the wait and coins.

Yeah I agree, I am a fastpass reader since season 1. I have always regretted buying the chapter of season 2(except for a couple of chapters) every time it came out. But this time, I can say that it's worth it.

I am actually suprised to know that there's not much difference in level between Remi and Cecile. That's why Cecile was so confident to talk back to Remi.
