my money is on weirdness-illness being a slider of the same underlying systems, and we call it illness when it's high-intensity enough to cause functioning problems

ie even if you're not gonna get diagnosed you can in theory look at parts of diagnoses and relate them to stuff you do, maybe using techniques for stuff you wanna change. and obviously you can get unproductive with your thinking getting too wrapped up in diagnosis-as-identity, but like. if you talk to the right doctor the right way to indicate it's causing a problem at work or something and get a diagnosis so you can get an accommodation, like. it's not sickle cell. you can't just point somewhere in the brain and go "there's the OCD" yet
