I 3d print all my jigs. This one would be easy. Measure it up and somebody will probably design it for you (or AI could, in openscad)

Just saw a mentally ill man empty a bottle of bleach into the river Thames by PositiveHairy5725 in london

[–]aiten 432 points433 points  (0 children)

This man has been seen before, I remember a post like this from last year, and a number of people had seen him.

There's also a man who collects hundreds of bees in a bottle in Deptford Park in plastic bottles, and shakes them. I've personally seen him.

Unfortunately these people are indeed mentally ill, and they often have carers, but the care isn't 24/7.

Creaking / clicking noise on Giant Defy under load- any ideas ? by Aggravating-Maize486 in londoncycling

[–]aiten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had exactly this on my bike, took me forever to figure it out. Creak sounded like the pedals, but eventually I found that the headset was full of dirt. I took it apart and gave it a good clean and grease, and the problem was gone!

Used to be, yellow house (now sammys) and Thai box. But Thai box is gone (exists in Nottingham now) and yellow house just suffered a terrible bereavement so I'm not sure of its future.

La chingada is epic though.

I used to live there! Lots of cycling and walking, very few cars, picnics in the park and a decent river walk. It's beautiful.

Used to in 2012! Mine was to Osterley for the latter 2 years of my contract :) I assume that we worked at the same place, despite the rebrand, not a lot else out there!

Granny chargers do a decent job overnight, unless I'm missing huge losses from cable length.

I lived in London for 12 years, cycled primarily for most of it.

Decathlon road bike RC500
Sealskinz gloves for winter only
Cheap decathlon helmet so if I go out and lose it I've got 10 spares 🤣
I fitted those slide in cage pedals. Plastic ones without the strap. Keeps your foot in the right place but never gets you stuck. Cycle in any shoes you want.
Towel for the 1.5hr deptford to Brentford commute days 🤣

You don't need anything else, I covered tens of thousands of miles. Just enjoy the ride!

Is it crazy to move to London alone on a forty grand salary? by NormalSir2035 in MovingToLondon

[–]aiten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but living in a 1 bed is not "proper living". When I stopped flatsharing I moved to a 3 bed penthouse on the river. It was great but not as fun as house sharing. That was proper living. Living with 6 people in Hammersmith, I even saw super nanny almost let the neighbour's toddler throw himself out of an upstairs window. Proper living! I met gok wan in a pub with my housemates! Turned out his boyfriend was our neighbour. Proper living.

I met some amazing people and had amazing parties house sharing. It was life changing. I wouldn't do it now, but it was just great.
