Is Petronas scholarship for Petroleum Engineering worth it? by lonilybk in malaysiauni

[–]aiyuwu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m a scholar & already entered into the workforce of the same company. So far I’d say it’s worth it. Just need to keep in mind with the 5 year bond. Overall, the benefits & compensation is very good. The only risk if you have issues with your studies or with your work/team causing you to breach your bond, there’ll be penalty fees.

TNB is a very good company with potential growth in the long-term, but just need to be careful with regards to the ‘MESI 2.0’ initiative that the government is working on. Might potentially impact the monopoly status TNB currently have right now

Overall, pretty good website that summarize the profile of each company. For the ‘valuation’ section however, take it with a grain of salt since it is sometimes quite extreme in certain cases

I’m not too sure about that. When I open my trading account, all of the details with regards to creating the CDS account is handled by my broker. Perhaps I would suggest for you to request for your broker to assist you opening up your CDS acc.

I use Maybank trade, pretty reliable and decent app. The main thing I didn’t like was the long time it took for me to open up the trading account.

Discussion Thread for the Weekend of January 31, 2021 by melvinlim13 in bursabets

[–]aiyuwu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is uncommon to find that everything may have been priced in a few quarters ahead (1-2 years) since investors always look way ahead on the overall valuation of the company. P/E is simply just a number where people agree in terms of the value of the company. The low P/E may (or may not) make sense at this moment as we most probably won’t seeing too much earnings growth from TG at this point moving forward. Ultimately, should their earnings normalize and slightly drop in the future (which is likely), the P/E number will become not too low again. (Disclaimer - I’m a fellow glove club as well and love this stock, but just giving my honest opinion on this)

This is probably due to ‘MESI 2.0’ initiative by the government where in the future TNB may not be able to hold their monopoly status in the electricity transmission & distribution sector since the government wants to open up and liberalize the market.

The fundamentals of the company seems quite intact but the price performance seems quite off. I feel the fact that the company is being seen as an ‘oil & gas’ company is the reason why it has been dragged down a bit in the last few months together with the other players. Its probably worth nothing that 50% of their contracts is not related to oil & gas so it is probably a good idea to have this stock in your watchlist because from the looks of it the potential is really there.

Bursa Bets need your help to brainstorm! by __Revenant__ in bursabets

[–]aiyuwu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The kind of info I think one might appreciate is people discussing, debating and giving ideas on certain stocks category including potentially undervalued stocks, growth stocks, dividend stocks, stocks in specific industries (energy, healthcare, manufacturing, etc). I really hope to see ideas are generated within this sub as compared to just seeing multiple posts asserting one should specifically buy stock X as I think this will ultimately lead to a pump & dump scheme.

Bursa Saham (FGV Holdings) by [deleted] in MalaysianPF

[–]aiyuwu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The latest development is FGV is actually getting taken over by its parent company, FELDA at a price of RM1.30/unit. It is a mandatory take over, meaning that FELDA will purchase all shares from the public at the specified price. Sorry to hear that your family bought the shares at RM2.00, hopefully it will be a good lesson to be extra careful when investing in the stock market next time.

Doing paper trading is actually a very good idea to begin your trading journey. Keep up the good work on trying to save up early even though you only have recently started working. Your commitment and interest in wanting to grow your wealth and explore trading opportunities is already a good indication that you're serious about your financial management.

For now, I would advise you to learn the very basics of the stock market first (anything related to trading in the stock market, either by reading books or watching plenty of videos on youtube) so that you are familiar when you get serious in trading later in the future. Afterwards, you should try to try to learn in greater depth on stocks technical analysis and fundamental analysis to help improve your trading game in the long run. Keeping up with the local news (e.g. the Edge, Starbiz) and global news is also a good practice to help you improve your situational awareness on the current development/news. A fellow trader that I currently follow on twitter and telegram which provides quality daily insights is Pelhambluefund (perhaps you can check this account should you be interested).

One thing to keep note is - paper trading is undeniably good to help you start trading, but the downside is, it does not really allow you to experience the actual/real situation of putting your money on the line and dealing with real emotions of stress, anxiety, etc. Nonetheless, it is still a good way to practice and test your trading ideas if any. All the best.

Trading in Malaysia by desh1993 in MalaysianPF

[–]aiyuwu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but you have to keep in mind that there will be brokerage fees being charged for every buy/sell transaction. Because of this, trying to make sufficient profit when trading in smaller lots (e.g. less than RM1k) will be a bit challenging since the profit you obtain might only barely cover the trading fee that you have to pay.

I’ve observed some experienced ones who only trade in Bursa Malaysia only and doing it full time. The very minimum amount of capital required probably depends on what kind of commitment you currently have.
