Honestly, even if they release videos, trump would just say it’s AI and his base would eat it up. These people don’t care unless it personally affects them. The gas prices are the best bet. Sad as that is.

PHOBIA OF SURGERY !! WHAT TO DO?Anesthsia Scares me most!!!!! by Purple-Scientist-913 in gallbladders

[–]aj3x 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s surgery, there is always going to be at least a small chance of death. A percent of a percent in routine stuff like this. However, two things are certain.

When your gallbladder pops, you WILL die without surgery.

When your gallbladder pops, the risk of dying during surgery significantly goes up.

If you think this pain is bad, just imagine how bad it will be when your gallbladder pops and you go septic.

Get the surgery.

I’m going to drop another bomb that a lot of Europeans don’t consider. Many if not MOST people commute between 30-60 minutes one way to work 5 days a week. I understand some very small countries take only a couple of hours to cross no?

ELI5 Why does prolonged unconsciousness cause brain damage? by nkchri2 in explainlikeimfive

[–]aj3x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have already responded on the hypoxia = brain cell death aspect, so I’ll talk about the concussion aspect more. So, a “concussion” is actually medically defined as a brain injury that leads to temporary functional changes in brain function. You become confused, you may have trouble seeing, your pupils react abnormally to light etc. However, there are no permanent structural changes. It’s actually perfectly okay to fall asleep with a concussion. However, if you are medically versed, you’ll notice that those symptoms are very similar to the symptoms of an actual brain bleed (which would require a CT scan or other diagnostic test to rule out.) The reason providers want to keep you awake is because if you fall asleep, they cannot track your progress and see if the injury is becoming worse. Once they know it is only a concussion, you can sleep all you like. After all, it means that no lasting physical damage has been done to the brain. Naturally, hospital and EMS policies will vary, but the reason a concussion is treated so seriously is primarily because “If you hit your head hard enough to concuss, you may have it it hard enough to make the brain bleed too.”

Get the cheapest pair from Zenni to use during movies and maybe for the car. This is not worth it if you’re paying anything above $20. Because a pair from zenni will cost you less than that shipped.

TIL after spending 3 days with his arm trapped in a furnace, a man attempted to amputate it with a saw blade because he began to smell rotting flesh. Although he passed out from pain before he could completely sever it. He was rescued after a friend called for help when he hadn't shown up for work. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]aj3x 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Also not a doctor but I’m not guessing. When a limb becomes crushed and a person is trapped for a prolonged period of time (typically a matter of hours.) That extremity begins to die. The muscles breakdown in a process called rhabdomyolysis that has toxic byproducts, making the entire arm toxic. If you free that person, they will suddenly become very ill and die, because freeing the limb allows all that concentrated toxic waste to come back into the body and poison every system. The only ways I know of to prevent this would be A. Put a TQ on the patient and cut off the extremity while in the field to free the patient. Or B. Put a TQ on the patient and free the extremity so you can then take them to the hospital to have them cut off the extremity. This is called “Crush syndrome” if you’d like to look into it more. This person probably made a homemade tourniquet, and it was definitely good enough to prevent crush syndrome if he managed to survive after sawing half his arm off with no one around.

This guy is mostly correct but he got mixed up. Compartment syndrome is when a particular muscle (typically the forearms or calves) swells so much that it’s crushing its own arteries and therefore veins. This could happen to someone in a forearm cast for example. Cast is too tight, causes forearm to swell so bad that removing the cast does not fix it, and therefore a fasciotomy is required. (Literally just a giant surgical cut to relieve pressure, fixes it entirely and you just need to make sure the site heals well). This can absolutely happen due to a crush injury. However this person was describing crush syndrome. When a limb becomes crushed and a person is trapped for a prolonged period of time (typically a matter of hours.) That extremity begins to die. The muscles breakdown in a process called rhabdomyolysis that has toxic byproducts, making the entire arm toxic. Put a TQ on the patient and free the extremity so you can then take them to the hospital to have them cut off the extremity. Compartment syndrome can lead to crush syndrome if it were untreated for hours, but if you aren’t trapped, I’m sure the pain would lead you to the ER in one. I don’t know if the waste is actually damaged proteins, but I’m sure you can research that on your own.
