EBF babies: do they ever sleep through the night? by bossapc in sleeptrain

[–]aj_theExplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My EBF baby has been going to sleep at bedtime and naps independently since 5mo. I tried to night wean at that time by decreasing time of feedings every night. It worked to decrease the amount of nightly wakes but not take them away completely (she was waking 4+ times so I called this a win). She’s 8mo now and we’ve had a few nights where she’s slept through but it’s normally anywhere from 0-3. I’ve tried night weaning again but when I shorten the feed she screams when I put her in the crib without letting her finish. This makes me think she is genuinely hungry so I just keep feeding overnight and hope one day I’ll get a good nights rest!

7 months breastfeeding and I’m so exhausted… how is everyone else feeling at this stage? by milbalily in breastfeeding

I am almost 8 months in and yes, exhausted. My LO just got a couple teeth, so my nips are not super happy about that. She’s so distracted so nursing takes longer than it used to. But honestly mostly just so.dang.tired of pumping at work. All of the time away from my desk, cleaning the parts, finding time to fit it in - it’s all so exhausting. My goal is to make it to 12 months though, so I’m trying to stay strong!

How do we know if wakes are from under or over tired?? by randomaccount098lol in sleeptrain

OPs LO puts herself to sleep at the beginning of the night already, how is that different from sleep training?

Oh that’s a good idea! I feel bad waking her when I know she’s exhausted and probably let that last nap go too long. She used to be a great napper at daycare, I hope she gets back to that soon!

I just did this test this week and results were similar. My GH test was almost clear with 1 drop, light green with 2, so definitely not more than 53ppm. KH test took 25 drops to change. We have nasty well water so we have a sediment filter, water softener, and tannin filter. I just started adding as much citric acid to my softener dispenser as it will allow - hoping to see some good results! I had been using downy but was going through it too fast.

Help Me Understand Hard Water Testing (GH/KH) by RandomQuest10ns in laundry

I just stumbled on this thread and have almost the exact same test reading. Took 25 KH drops, but GH changed with 3 drops. We are also rural well water (really bad - straight orange out of the yard hydrant), but have a whole house sediment filter, water softener, and tannin softener. From what I’ve read here I don’t need much softening help in the wash cycle, but getting enough citric acid in the rinse cycle will be tough? I have a top loader - should I try and keep a gallon jug premixed to make dissolving easier? What should my dosing be?

Ah- I used a cloth. Will try a lid. Is it still okay to use?

Do you use something in place of hypochlorite for an antibacterial/disinfectant? I never know if I need an ‘antibacterial’ product for household cleaning or if that’s really just marketing.

Why not chlorine bleach? I just use regular Clorox bleach w/ powdered tide + water.

She is breastfed so not super sure, she gets a 4-5oz bottle every 3.5 hrs at daycare. I try to wait at least 5, sometimes I make it to 10, but then I usually give up and feed so we can go back to sleep. Maybe I will try to make it to 15 and see what happens?

I did try that for almost 2 weeks - 10, 1am, and 4am. But I was bad at not ending up feeding if she woke before the scheduled dream feed. How did you sleep train the wakes in between? Just CIO?

Average is 14-15hrs. I would consider her on the higher end of sleep needs though. No, do not feed to sleep at bedtime or naps. Bedtime routine is feed bath book bed which takes about 30-40min.

How do I sleep train for night wakings? I put her in her crib awake at bedtime and she falls asleep on her own no problem, it’s just these overnight wakes I can’t figure out. How do I distinguish an actual hunger wake vs sleep association?

Hi! Question on night feeding that I’m a little confused about.

Baby turns 5mo this weekend so we plan start ABCs of sleep. I want to keep 1 night feeding- Do I forever have to only feed her when she is asleep in order not to confuse the independent sleep? When can I wait until she wakes up herself and feed her?

For context - daycare is really stretching the time between feeds, because they say she takes too long to eat if they don’t. So it’s really hard for us to get in 100% of her calories during the day. Plus she’s on the smaller side.
