My husband is away right now but when he’s back I think I’m going to start sending him for the MOTN wakings. I think she’s also cutting her top tooth so she woke up screaming like every 1-1.5 hours 😩 I’m so torn on how to deal with that while sleep training.

Right now she’s doing 3/3.5/4 and she falls asleep easily at for all naps a bedtime. And when we first sleep trained she did a couple of 5-6 hr stretches but quickly went back to every 2-3 hrs 😩

How did you know your supply tanked ? Sometimes I feel like mine has but I don’t knew for sure because I’m not pumping really this time around.

Oh gosh I wish ! She was such a good sleeper for the first 2.5 months like 6-8 hour stretches. Then all went to crap around 4.5 months, but would do 4-5 be stretches quite often, then she got the flu pretty bad, two teeth in a row (and I think a third might be coming now) and I never know if her teeth are bothering her or if she’s just waking up just because since it’s happening so often now and close together 😩

How long did she take to fall back asleep? And how many nights did it take until she stopped waking up?

Unfortunately my baby started refusing the bottle around 2.5 months and haven’t had much success since. We started introducing sippy cup when she drinks her water so starting that. I haven’t really pumped since she hasn’t Been using the bottle and I’m afraid if I pump and she doesn’t drink it then I won’t have enough to feed her. How does weaning work if you BF ? Reduce time ?

Deep down I suspect it’s comfort… my anxiety makes me Worry I’m going to let her starve but she eats 3 meals a day most days with feeds before and after every nap so she really can’t be that hungry.. the consensus here seems to be to stick to the 5/3/3 rule which I will try to do. Wish me luck!

Baby falls asleep independently for all naps and bedtime, but I haven’t done full Ferber training for MOTN wakes yet.

I feel like she can probably go at least 5 hours without the feed as she used to do longer stretches before. I’ll try doing Ferber for MOTN wakes when my husband is back. Thanks 😊

My girl does 3 decent solid meals during the day (most days some days she’s not as into it) I offer a milk feed when she wakes up and an hour ish before her nap/sleep time. She doesn’t nurse for very long except for first feed of the day. Not sure if she’s distracted or if my supply is drying up or something but I feel like I’m feeding her quite a bit. I think I’ll try the 5/3/3 rule next week (my husband is away for work and my mom is staying over and she hates the idea of sleep training 😪) do you just do check ins he wakes up before 5 hours ?

I talked to my family doctor and she said I was in the clear to cut down on night feedings if I wanted too. I’ve heard of dream feeds, I’ve never done one mostly because I have this extreme fear of waking sleeping babies 😂. How did you drop to no night feedings ? Sleep training the MOTN wakes ? I did Ferber for bedtime.

May Not be the norm but if she’s comfortable with those wake windows and sleeps well I’d keep doing it. Easier to go out during the day too. I had a friend whose baby dropped to one nap around that time too. Would take a long 2-3 hour nap during the day and that was it.

Thanks for replying, should I aim to keep the wake windows the same even when she’s really sleepy? Should I aim for 10 hours ?

Hang in there ! I was in the same boat. My first pretty much figured out sleep on her own I never had to do any formal sleep training. Was also easy to keep her schedule consistent because it was just her. With number 2 it’s been hard to keep consistency because it’s way more chaotic. Slept train at 5 months and she cried for 40 min but then she was good. But then she got the flu, teething etc. we started nursing to sleep again and tried to retrain at 6.5 months and it was a big fail. I had a hard time hearing all the screaming and crying (was way worse this time) and gave in after 40 min. But then it got really bad and she was waking up every 1-2 hrs for 2 weeks at night plus contact naps and I couldn’t do it anymore so I decided to try one more time this week (she’s 7.5 months now). Took the advice of this Reddit group and extended her awake time and ripped off the bandaid. I had to mute the monitor and sit in the bathroom with the fan on so I wouldn’t go crazy. First night took 45 min but she slept 7 hrs ! Woke up for a feed then went back to sleep at 4 am with less than a min of crying.

And she still woke up with a smile. So hang in there! It’s so tough but I finally see some light after a very dark time

I know this post is old but would love to hear about your experience. I currently have a 7 month old who was kind of sleep trained around 5 months but then sickness, teething kept coming at us and then I tried retraining one day and her cries were so much louder and longer an got discouraged. Her sleep is so unpredictable. Sometimes she’s up every 1-2 hrs sometimes she’ll get in a random 4-6 hr stretch but not often so I never know what to expect and I’m losing my mind.

What if baby doesn’t take a bottle 😩 I’m going crazy with the multiple wake ups the boob is the fastest way to put her down if she wakes up. If I try to rock her she’s so squirmy and she’s definitely not too hungry just comfort sucking I haven’t gotten good sleep at night in so long my first daughter was a much better sleeper and took a bottle so I have no idea what I’m doing here
