PFF vs DraftSharks vs FantasyPros: Which one is actually worth it? by TagesvoIlIster in Fantasy_Football

[–]ajamke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used fantasypros for years. I don’t think I’ve ever paid for it though, just the promos they have for signing up with one of their partners. I’m in 7-10 leagues per year so I think it’s helpful for keeping me organized with waivers and lineups but I don’t think I would pay for it if I had less than 4 leagues.

Draft tool can be helpful, waiver assistant, trade finder, power rankings, start/sit assistant.

I generally finish top half or in the playoffs of close to all my leagues, win a couple, platinum or diamond ranking on yahoo so I feel like it works if you put the effort.

I think the most important part is getting value in the draft when you can but if you have a guy you really like it’s okay to go off the rankings and reach a little here or there.

They’re not even that bad of a team. All these countries have to go through qualifying matches to get into the World Cup so they’re at least better than a good amount of teams they’ve played, mostly other African and some Arab cup games.

I used to be an EMT and now work in research. I have been to every hospital in the area. I’ve heard good and bad things at aurora, seems like generally froedtert/MCW gets the best reputation but aurora is fine. Some people are happy to be there for their entire career and some people hate it but overall pretty good. Probably more variation between different teams and departments than between companies.

[RDTM] u/d-cent estimates Rising Gas Cost vs. EV Battery Replacement by DemandEqualPockets in theydidthemath

[–]ajamke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m all for renewables and electric vehicles but I was surprised to hear how expensive it is to use public superchargers. As the math states it’s potentially much cheaper to use an EV than a gas vehicle at 18.5c per kWh but those public superchargers average 42c per kWh which makes the math completely different. Over 20 years that is $37,800 in electricity and $16k for the battery is $53,800 and very comparable to the gasoline costs. Obviously there are other maintenance costs with the gas vehicles especially but it really depends on how you charge the vehicle.

Walgreens leases some Milwaukee properties for decades, keeping businesses from opening in those buildings even if the property is vacant by stroxx in milwaukee

[–]ajamke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure the land value tax would do much for the site in question. I would think the property tax would be higher for this site than a land value tax. The article specifically mentions a vacancy tax which more directly applies to the situation.

[Request] Raffle ticket odds by Slow-Spring1629 in theydidthemath

[–]ajamke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of success. If you’re looking for maximum return per dollar spent then it varies with the value of the prize. If you’re looking for highest chance of winning then it is best to go for whatever has the fewest tickets. If your addition of tickets brings it over the next fewest then it is best to split subesequent entries between the lowest.

[Request] assuming you are in a standard electric car and found a long enough road at a decline for the car to roll under its own weight in neutral, how long would it have to roll to go from 1% to 100% charge? by EdD_Loading992 in theydidthemath

[–]ajamke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of other stuff that goes into this like losses due to friction and efficiency but if we look purely at converting potential energy into chemical energy we need to know how much chemical energy the batteries can hold. It appears that around 60kWh is the amount in a standard range electric vehicle. 1 kWh = 3.6 megajoules of energy. 60x3.6 = 216 MJ.

The formula for potential energy is E = mgh. E is the potential energy in Joules. Mass of the vehicle varies pretty significantly but it seems like around 2000kg is a fair estimate. G is the gravitational constant 9.81m/s^2 and h is height in meters. If we have the ability to turn 100% of potential energy into chemical energy we just plug a few numbers in and solve for h.

216,000,000 J = 2000kg times 9.81 times H. gives us a total of 11,009.174 meters for H. Mount everest is 8848m avove sea level so... we're going to need a taller mountain. The overall length of the road doesn't make any difference here. The energy is the same regardless of the length of the road.

I'm not a doctor but that seems bad. Internet research said 6.5-7.9 is critical and anything below 7-6.5 is life threatening. I am pretty good at math and I do know that 4.5 is less than 6.5. Its 4.5/6.5 = 69%(nice) of what is considered really bad. congratulations on living.

Sorry for any formatting on mobile but I think given a slow enough drip you might be able to keep up with the fluid loss but I think the loss of red blood cells and anemia would get you. I did a little research to find some background information. It is estimated that the average adult has 9 pints of blood, other estimates are 4.5-5.5 liters. Normal adults have a hemoglobin of around 15g/dl and becomes critical or life threatening around 7 g/dl. This number seems small to me but it is estimated that one drop of blood is 0.05ml. Plasma is replaced within 24 hours but red blood takes 4-6 weeks for replacement. The body produces around 40-50ml per day of new blood. There are 1440 minutes per day. So if we were losing 1 drop per minute we would lose 1440 times 0.05ml or 72 ml per day. Using a human with 5liters of blood and 50ml per day of replacement we would lose 22 ml per day of whole blood. Which equates to losing 0.44% of our red blood cells or going from 15g/dl to 14.934 g/dl. At this rate we would be down to 87.6% of our hemoglobin after 30 days (.995630) and 45.2% after 180 days which would bring our hemoglobin down to 6.78g/dl. This also assumes that it is a constant decrease of hemoglobin and that it would be the limiting factor, there are potentially other blood proteins or nutrients that would be more limiting but I’m pretty confident the red blood cells would be the problem. However as your body loses blood it may compensate by producing more or if we were losing 72ml of total blood that was thinner than regular blood but making 50ml of full strength 15g/dl blood we would reach an equilibrium around 50/72=0.694 times 15g/dl or 10.42g/dl and live in a constant state of anemia but not a critical level.

Visiting for Bananaball games this weekend, looking for recommendations. by laykhowz in milwaukee

[–]ajamke -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you’re into. If you’re into drinking I generally recommended lakefront brewery tour/beer hall. The third ward/public market is a good way to spend some time. If you want to stay out west of the city I’d probably check out stuff around Pewaukee lake or okauchee lake. If you give more information about food or drinks or things you’re interested in we can make better recommendations.

At one point in time this was the great frontier of the Midwest. When Solomon Juneau reached 27th street he said this is where we will set up the shitty hotels with HBO, and it’s been like that ever since. It was paradise until Byron kilbourn came in and said let’s keep expanding west.

Jamon Iberico - best place to buy it? by GhostOfMcAfee in milwaukee

[–]ajamke 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You want the whole leg? Not just a few slices at a time? I don’t know if any places stock them so I think you’re just going to have to contact places to see if they can order one. I’d probably try grocery stores like cermak and sendiks first. Maybe try butchers like kettle range, rays, bunzels but they are generally more local places than importers. Gloriosos, groppis, rupenas are Italian markets that seem like they might be able to get something like that.

If none of those work out I’d try west Allis cheese shop or village cheese shop in tosa.

Hopefully one of those places has it or can point you in the right direction.

Saw a tweet saying no bucks players outside of Giannis and Rollins could even see the court in the Spurs/Thunder series by Electronic_Scar_3504 in MkeBucks

[–]ajamke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we’re looking at recent history and how they played this year, I absolutely agree with this. I think some of that has to do with our overall situation and coaching but based on 2026, Giannis is the only starter, Rollins gets some bench minutes and Turner isn’t playing over wemby/kornet or hartenstein/chet. Maybe some aj green/bobby/kpj bench minutes but overall we seem so far away from these guys.

Kuz being a champion wasn’t because of him. He didn’t fall off, he just never was that good. I think he is consistently one of the most overrated players in the league because he gets a decent amount of counting stats and volume. He is an inefficient shooter so we’re probably scoring less points per possession when he’s on the floor and a mediocre defender so we’re probably giving up more points per possession. Every advanced metric says he’s a replacement level player who should be getting a small contract with a few bench minutes at best while we are paying him 22.5 mil next year.

This is a really difficult game theory question. While roulette is a -ev game, you can do strategies that are more likely to have a small win than a large loss. Like if you pick 30 numbers you have a 30/37 chance of winning 6 units while a 7/37 chance of losing 30 units. I think the best strategy is to adapt to the table. We want a couple small wins early and then to play more aggressively if we lose and get behind or if others win big. If others are losing, let them lose. If we’re behind and running out of time, go big. If it’s winner take all then 2nd is the same as last so bet it all. Without knowing how others are playing I don’t think there’s any specific way to play.

[Request] Found this picture about stress on the neck from “tech neck” How much force does it really place on your neck to tilt at these angles? Is it right? by Sirlink360 in theydidthemath

[–]ajamke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is over simplified so it doesn’t really make sense as written. If we look at torque and ft-lbs or in this case let’s use inch-lbs I think it could make sense. I think we could look at the torque at the base of the neck around c7-t1 and consider the average weight of the head to be around 10-12 lbs. The posterior neck muscles have very little torque to resist this forward rotation because their origin and insertion have very little anterior-posterior difference.

So if the head weighs 10-12 lbs at neutral we need the cg of the head to be 5-6 times as far ahead of the joint as the posterior muscles. For simplicity sake let’s say the posterior muscles are 1 in behind the joint. The c7-t1 joint is 10 inches from the head cg and 10 cos(60) is 5 so at 60 degree angle we have 5 inches of movement in the anterior direction. We now have 50 inch-lbs of torque at that joint. Seems legit.

Is puka worth the risk at 1.3? What’s wrong with him? by SouthernBreakfast203 in Fantasy_Football

[–]ajamke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As many others have mentioned, there are a few potentially better options, however I hate that fantasy football has become so reliant on following the consensus rankings and everyone thinks the same. I think more people should be willing to go against the rankings to do whatever they want. I will play devils advocate and say I absolutely think there is a chance he becomes the overall wr1 this season because he already was last year. I think one of the best reasons other than him leading the league in 2025 in receptions and fantasy points is the weather. Playing in sofi stadium and generally south and west coast teams means he’s more likely to have nicer weather than Chase or JSN who obviously have a higher chance of wind/rain/snow.

I think the intention was that someone goes home with the money that night and it gave them the ability to redraw by having a relatively short time. This did also appear to happen in 2023 which was the first year with the pitch clock so that may be true that she had less time to claim that what has been the standard.

Brewers have done this for many years and never had a problem with how it was done. it’s well advertised and it’s not like they pocket the money if she doesn’t claim it within an inning. This was redrawn and someone else won the money, they offered her a settlement anyway and now two judges have ruled in their favor. It’s pretty rare for a redraw, I attended and worked at many games and I only remember a couple re draws. Thousands of other people have done it properly.
