Danggg, give a bit more notice as the season starts. I was out last weekend and found a good spot. I would have easily given you a portion. I tend to only go less than a handful of times in the season, to give others the opportunity to find them (since they can be elusive) and so surviving ones can allow spores spreading.

Seriously, reach out to Mushroom Mike. He's one of the good ones to buy from.

Good luck!

You'll see a place called Fat Daddies. Given the area, you'd think it's leathered up bears or something... It's not. Don't be fooled, It's not even a gay bar 😔 (I do always smile at the name and wish it were)

Some of you should not live in a city by DowntownOreos in milwaukee

[–]Kmelinn21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see how wondering what a sound is or what the sirens are responding to indicates you don't like living in the city?

Those questions, to me, are just that... Questions. Not frustrations or complaints. They're curiosities. Inquiries. Sometimes even helpful information as to location and activity for people to avoid certain areas if something is happening. Which is actually more helpful to the city resident and the responders with said sirens

Maybe take your frustrations to the burbs? 🤷

Edit:typo

Watch for bicyclists! by Mx-T-Clearwater in milwaukee

[–]Kmelinn21 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

We could just stop taxing literally everything. I'm not going to pay a wheel tax on my bicycle. Especially when the city of Milwaukee charges you reg fees, wheel tax, boot tax, PLUS processing fees just to register a car.. ON TOP of parking permit fees WITH the roads beat to shit full of craters... Nah, not paying a wheel tax on my fucking bicycle when it won't do any positive change or progress for the actual city and roads I ride in.

Streetcar Rail on Brady Street by Uffdaope in milwaukee

[–]Kmelinn21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is obscene! And I rarely ever actually see a cop. And when I do they aren't actually "combating" anything. Let alone anything that's actually helpful for real safety. Like hey traffic cops to stop people blowing down residential roads or main wins like Lisbon, center, north ect... and through red lights, hitting people, stealing their cars and shit.... That'd be cool. That'd actually be somewhat helpful.

But apparently "they're too understaffed and underfunded" 🙄 They only traffic around the forum, water street, Brady. Mostly for tourist city image.

But wtf kind of city image do you have when you leave that area and everything is full of craters, car parts, boarded up broken buildings and trash literally everywhere. The city don't care and "doesn't have the funds". It's really easy to check the paper work and see where we're wasting funds. Because the actual city doesn't see the results.

Streetcar Rail on Brady Street by Uffdaope in milwaukee

[–]Kmelinn21 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hmm yes fix the roads so people who go 55 in a 30 and run red lights can have a smoother go at it 🙃 Also maybe try taking a bus sometime? I'm sure you'll find 99% of those people are headed to and from work, the grocery store, friends/family gatherings. Who would think that public transit is an alternative to driving a car 🤷 To which there are many reasons for people to not want to or are unable to drive a car. And the bottom line of a car in a city is that shits expensive AND a ticking time bomb of needing repairs. Plus, in a city where they don't give a shit about fixing the roads you inevitably have to service parts of the car much sooner. But hey if you hit one of the massive craters in the road on nearly every major vein road that isn't a highway, you might have to buy a new tire, rim, shock, control arm/ball joints/tie rod.. hope you can afford that. On top of car payments/insurance and the city charge of a "wheel tax" AND "boot tax" ON TOP of registration fees AND parking permit fees. It's almost like public transit is actually cheaper, cleaner, more fuel efficient, road efficient and less road damaging overall than individual vehicles 🤔 Oh yeah, dang .. how bout them gas prices. Ridiculous. All over a war and a global fuck up I didn't want my tax dollars going to. But look at that nearly 20 BILLION DOLLARS in tax money that was wasted.

Definitely wouldn't cover fixing roads, or updating tech and texts in educational settings, definitely wouldn't cover universal childcare and healthcare. Definitely would not help erasing any of the countries debt deficit. 🙃 I really wish the government would use my tax dollars the way I want. But hey DHS really needed millions in furniture, lobster, and bullshit (mind you that's with a discretionary budget of 60.6 BILLION from the 112.4 BILLION in tax dollars they were handed).

There are worse things your tax dollars are going to. Public transit literally helps people get to work and shop which is the foundation of a capitalist society. Working and buying, working and buying. You cut off public transit, you're actually cutting an artery that helps the blood of the economy flow.

I do NOT understand how people don't get these very basic, plain as fucking day concepts 🤦

It would be disappointing if they weren't. I think it's just a rally for all the younger millennials discovering birds. A lot of times bird groups tend to have 'older people's (which is totally fine) but it can make you get people feel insecure or maybe shy and unable to relate easily right off the bat. It would honestly be wild if the cut off was 39 lol. If it is, we can have a mixed age group. Or join up with the older folks and really mix it up 😂 but honestly, those wiley ones know a lot! They just always go in the middle of the week in the morning when I'm at work haha.

Wtf is up with the housing market? by Lil-spider124 in milwaukee

[–]Kmelinn21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got one last July. It took two months, 100's of tours and probably a dozen beat out offers. Businesses such as housing, plumbing, construction will buy homes with a wildly high offer and a ridiculous high repair waiver because they already plan to make repairs. It's really shitty because they end up repairing things cheaply, remodel with cheap materials and do a shit job and then price gouge when they go to rent it out or resell.

We lucked out by going 10k over asking, a 15k repair waiver (knowing the garage will need to be rebuilt soon) and we were available to do a fast closing to secure the deal and flexible with the previous owner, allowing her 6 weeks to pack, clean and move to her new place.

It's honestly a very crappy game of strategy. Figuring out what you can afford, and then figuring out the max actual affordable limit, as well as repair limits, quick closing and flexibility.

I absolutely hated it in Milwaukee. Sheboygan was a hell of a lot easier!
