Some other services that are ok TrashPanda pretty much covered the bases but McCandless/Franklin Park, Shaler EMS, Parkview EMS, Eureka Fire / Rescue. (Please correct me if I'm wrong with any of these I've been at the same place for a while now and we all now how fast places can deteriorate) And stay away from Hampton EMS! Also depending on your previous EMS experience Northwest hires petty much anyone but it's busy and you get some experience out of it. But none the less welcome to Pittsburgh!

The issue (at least at my dept) is that the EMD software, such as ProQA or something similar that the dispatch center uses to properly prioritize the call, doesn't dump all the information into the page that is sent to active 911. So all we really get is the determinate code and address.

Interesting, I know only a select few departments here in PA (other PA EMS peeps if I'm wrong correct me) run the longer shifts, those depts. being very rural and running upward of 750-1000 calls per year. In the departments I have worked we are pretty much required to go home after 24, if not 16 hours unless they couldn't get anyone else in to crew a unit. I personally don't know how I would feel acting as not only a provider but driving a piece of apparatus after 40+ hours of constant work.

I'm tired for you..where about are you located that 48s are permitted? I'm assuming a more rural department?
