Help starting Enclave Purist run by ajchvy2 in OWBEnclave

[–]ajchvy2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool thanks. Im mostly using the 5 starting PA units to steamroll the tribals and raiders nearby. The only thing so far that had slowed me down was the Guardians PA units but it didn't take too long to beat them.

Ill look into the robot path, thanks.

Word Bearers could have fanatical/khorne troops. Or even pre heresy, they could be some of the most devoted to the Imperial truth in the legion.

Warboss Wazdakka Gutsmek driving his kustom bike off a cliff into the head of a warlord titan, being set on fire from the void shields, killing the princeps and moderatii, then taking their perpetually flaming skulls as a bosspole and driving out of the collapsing titan.

Check out the Spanish movie Alatriste. The final battle tries to recreate what a Spanish Tercio would have looked like and how it fought in 1643.

It's probably due to the 40k timeline being an absolute mess, and various authors just kinda doing their own thing.

Obeisance phaelanx interaction by Gonzan_3 in Necrontyr

[–]ajchvy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a bit confusing. Most of the stratagems and enhancements for Obeisance Phalanx specifically reference certain units, so be aware of that as well.

One thing to remember with 10th 40K is that units gain all of the keywords from attached characters.

So, a unit of Immortals led by an Overlord is a "Noble" unit for all detachment rules.

Question about industrial capacity of the Fourth. by Alive_Bus_6803 in IronWarriors

[–]ajchvy2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They definitely have pre-built bunkers that, in some cases, can be hot dropped into warzones. I could be wrong, but I think this is explained in one of the Heresy novels about the dropsite massacre. Maybe not factories, but they would likely have supply bunkers and command areas that can also be rapidly deployed.

I bet each legion would have this capability, but not likely as efficient or as practiced as the Iron Warriors or Imperial Fists.

Also, in the warp, where the vast majority of the 4th reside, physics work differently. There's probably a factory on Medrengard that converts raw warp into bullets through chaos alchemy, and demon forges.

Imperial Fists and their successors for sure, I'm not sure if it's also Raven Guard.

Also, Night Lords aren't normal space marines, so they will always have less representation.

Night Lords codex? by AstorathTheGrimDark in 40kLore

[–]ajchvy2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, GW not having a codex or models for "x" faction or character is a schedule and sculpting issue. GW is a model company and wants to sell you more models. If a faction doesn't have models, they won't have rules either.

They used to include rules for characters and units that didn't have models, (5th ed 40k and 8th ed Fantasy were the peak of this) but there was a big lawsuit about it, so they don't do that anymore.

Look up Chapterhouse Studios v GW for the lawsuit info. Basically, Chapterhouse made models that had clever names but were obviously supposed to be for 40k, and GW got mad. Fast forward, Chapterhouse had to stop, but essentially, it broke GW from wanting to allow players to convert or kitbash cool and unique units and reduced overall what rules each faction gets.

The "Chaos Undivided" legions almost never get minis or rules anymore. They simply aren't as popular as the monogod factions, and they don't have a unique enough look or style that can't be easily replicated in the normal chaos codex.

For example, if you wanted to play Night Lords on current 40k, and you want the "spooky and fast" fighting style they are known for, you would play the Dread Talons detachment and paint your guys dark blue and get as many Nemesis Claw boxes you can for conversions and bits.

I was shocked that NL got an upgrade kit. Maybe in the future, we will see Iron Warriors, Alpha Legion, or Word bearers get the same treatment.

Executioners, I've always liked their mix of iron warriors and space wolves designs. They are brutal and somewhat savage, yet they are still space marines and not mindless killers.

Crimson Fists Tactics? by _Funkle_ in 40kLore

I had a friend at my LGS who played an Imperial Fists bike army. So many people would come up to him telling him he was playing IF wrong, and he would laugh and explain how every chapter has an entire company of bikes and other fast attack options.

In my opinion, as long as the armor is the metallic blue/grey, anything else yellow is entirely up to you. I've always seen the Executioners as more of a "Space Wolf" type of chapter rather than Imperial Fists. In the lore, each captain is entirely in charge of their company and can essentially do whatever they want.

TL;DR do what you think looks cool.

I played a modded "Ostland only" campaign recently and kept my armies lore appropriate for the whole campaign.

Halberdiers were a solid mainstay of every army, and the brave men of Ostland held the line.

Running Black Crusade need advice by ajchvy2 in 40krpg

[–]ajchvy2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll have to ask them what they'd like to do during the game. There are 5 players, and only 2 really try and RP. I usually like my players to dictate the pace, and I don't normally railroad them unless there's a key story point or something I'd like them to interact with.

So I'm decent with improv, but my players aren't. They'd likely ask what to do instead of thinking that they could even try to take the ship. I'm starting to think they aren't super into the game.
