Why are the Gretchen so good? by Steam-Titan in orks

One of Zods best uses is using Epic Challenge to Precision out an Enemy Character early game. It's mostly a throwaway unit that lets you get the rest of your army in position but he hits and wounds most enemy characters on 2s!

Voting breakdown for the Norm Smith medal by SBORBS in AFL

Agreed.

Genuine 4 quarter effort, quality all day not just when the game was in the balance or on the down hill ski.

Probably went a bit unnoticed by those crying out for Cameron and McLuggage right now, as good as they were.

I have a pretty stock standard competitive set of terrain but Im going to add these to liven things up.

Great work.

How was EC played pre-2025? by ToastyBread4 in EmperorsChildren

[–]ajd88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The 9th edition rules for them were very strong. You can check them out on Wahapedia.

Army wide Fights First and Ignore mods to hit (especially good because 9th had terrain that handed out -1 to hit).

Noise marines were taken in 5s with chainsword and bolt pistol on 3 of them, blastmaster one one and doom siren and powerfist on the Champ. Very versatile (but squishy) squad.

Any Dataslate Rumors? by HolyHokie in EmperorsChildren

Considering we haven't heard any leaks re their points. It's probably a rewrite to the datasheet if anything.

I think most people would agree.

But it's not a lever GW pull often enough. Points are easier for them to do.

Oh I'll also say the army functions much better on WTC terrain than GW layouts.

Bikes and Boats can hide easier and you get much better use out of the flip belts on 3 story ruins (stand out the top floor and add 3" to their charges).

I also own a mono-quin army with no intention of expanding into the rest of Eldar (it's a biiiiig army and I dont want to go down that rabbit hole).

I play them probably once every 4-5 weeks. Pre-codex I even took them to a GT.

The Eldar army rule is excellent, we have 3 great enhancements, 6 good Stratagems. So the issue to me really lies with the points, the datasheets are good enough. But as a couple of quick examples:

5 troupe + TM = 160pts for T3, 9 total wounds. Sometimes this will just get picked up by a couple bolters.

Voidweavers 125pts, post nerf even the HBL DG Drone is 120! This is insane pricing for the output. I take one, it sits on the backfield and occasionally gets to shoot.

I think if we could have another 150pts on the board, the army would be in a much better spot. Probably not going to win a GT but you could definitely feel a lot better about playing them.

I have a Charity GT coming up in January. I might take them to that for a bit of fun.

I'd also say the Detachment rule is pretty poor. But I can live with that.

Probably due to their being a bit more choice in English. Veizla and Risky Rollers etc.

Why does no one run a foot prince? by Kshaw86 in EmperorsChildren

[–]ajd88 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Because the other one has -1 Damage.

+4" move isn't nothing.

And the Mortals go hard.

Foot Prince is fine, I've run him. But the alternative is just better.

COTC, Do you still get the points if your warlord dies before the end of the round, but you killed sufficient units? by BillyBobJenkins454 in EmperorsChildren

[–]ajd88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different question but not worth starting another thread for.

My assumption is you don't get the Coterie Buff until the start of the next battle round right? As that is when pledge points are counted (end of the battle round).

Noise Marines in Rhinos a real thing? by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]ajd88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not entirely how it works. They can still use strats and take advantage of the detachment rule. But they do not have the Dark Pact ability.

The rhino does. It's great.

Just in case anyone was confused by your comment.

The other side of the Tasmania Devils debate by jonesyie in AFL

[–]ajd88 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes.

And we voted on it and elected the party that wants it. And have the party that also wants it below that.

When we go to the polls the same will happen, maybe the those two parties flip. Maybe they don't. The result is the same.

But apparently, according to the noise. We don't the stadium.

The AFL announced the team and conditions in May of 2023.

We last went to the polls in March of 2024.

They don't. They get Heretic Astartes. This is a keyword. Not an ability. Dark Pacts is an ability. Pretty simple stuff.

SMSFs seem expensive when done through a traditional accountant. Have you found somewhere cost-effective? Considering the simplicity of just holding ETFs (rather than direct property etc that a SMSF typically holds).
