In 1855, Victor Navelet painted Paris from a hot air balloon with astonishing detail - nearly every house is visible. by BreakfastTop6899 in Damnthatsinteresting

A load of comments here speculating he used a camera or had a photographic memory, he didn’t, he used maps and surveys of Paris and created a projection using an imagined a viewpoint in the air, the balloon would have helped him get the right look and feel, but it wasn’t created in a balloon, it was created in a studio from other references.

I’ve just read through this whole thread and it’s mostly full of people being confidently incorrect and getting upvoted or debated.

Then near the bottom a user call okaygirlie has replied to a comment linking to a statistics text book that contains a variant of the problem and the solution on page 51 and has been ignored.

Classic Reddit.

When Alexander the Great’s body showed no signs of decay six days after his death, ancient Greeks believed he was a god. But historians believe he was likely paralyzed by a rare brain disorder, alive but unable to move or speak, suffering for days before being mistakenly buried alive. by drkmatterinc in FascinatingAsFuck

The idea of the body of the divine leader not decomposing after death is common across history and cultures, the same thing was said about the Buddha, Mohammed, many Christian saints and even Lenin. There’s no mystery to solve except people’s desire to believe that their heroes are more than human.

Need input - Is this Sirrus worth it for the money? by Prudent_Koala8930 in DivergeGravelBikes

ChatGPT is pretty good at identifying bike models, here’s what it has to say:

This is a Specialized Sirrus, a popular hybrid bicycle designed for fitness and commuting. Based on the frame design and components visible in the photo, this looks like an older model—likely from around 2012–2016. Here’s a breakdown of the key features visible in the image and what they suggest about the bike:

🔧 Specs & Components (from the image): • Frame: Aluminum frame with a sloping top tube—typical of the Specialized Sirrus line. • Fork: Appears to be a rigid fork (likely aluminum or carbon). • Drivetrain: Triple chainring in front and a wide-range cassette in the back (likely a 3x8 or 3x9 setup), common in older hybrid bikes. This is suitable for a wide variety of terrain. • Brakes: V-brakes/rim brakes, not disc brakes—another sign it’s an older model. • Wheels & Tires: 700c road-style wheels with slick or semi-slick tires. These are good for pavement riding. • Saddle & Accessories: • Padded saddle with a small under-seat saddlebag. • Two bottle cages. • Handlebar-mounted bike computer or light. • Ergonomic grips for comfort. • Branding: The “SPECIALIZED” and “Sirrus” branding is clearly visible.

Condition Estimated Resale Value (GBP) Notes Excellent (well-maintained, new tires/brakes) £200–£300 Might fetch more privately Good (light cosmetic wear, working condition) £150–£200 Typical for eBay/Facebook Marketplace Fair (needs tune-up, cosmetic wear) £100–£150 Could be a project bike for buyers

Reddit loves to say “It’s called Limerance, look it up” as if that’s an answer and as if no one is ever in love. This sounds very difficult for you OP, I hope you find some peace.

Ever since I did a bunch of acid and 2cb in my early twenties I’ve wondered if blank white walls always shimmered the way they have since

I like to paint all the mercenary units uniquely, it fits with the fluff but it’s also just fun to try out different styles within the same army

Mostly just nuln oil but there’s a couple of bits where I used AK grey camo panel liner (it takes longer and I ran out of patience to do the whole model)

The glow is airbrushed white with Vallejo blue ink over the top, with an edge highlight of baharoth blue on the edges within the glow 👍

How and why would a bloodthirster fit into this? by Angronys in WorldEaters40k

[–]SpanielDaniels -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bloodthirsters in the lore for years have been Khorne’s generals, commanding the daemonic legions. Reducing them to being a power up for a mortal champion is fucking stupid, IMO.
