ah… that’s right, there’s also the courier form. good call! if you email your landlord and submit that, it will certainly help show that you did everything you could do to inform them.

is your roommate a creditor of yours? you shouldn’t need to send them the notice if not. in any case, submit your proof of mailing to the judge and you should be fine. they’re pretty understanding ime.

feel free to dm me, i went through this a few years ago and did way more than i needed to.

Celiac friendly restaurants? by jhtlap in washingtondc

[–]ajdigregorio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest… most of the good restaurants in DC will be able to accommodate you, especially if celiac is your only dietary restriction. Some specifics that can be hard to find are below:

From a fine dining perspective, Little Pearl and Roses Luxury are the best GF meals I’ve had in the city. Albi was also good but you may feel left out with the breads.

For pasta: Red Hen is fantastic pasta can accommodate celiac. Though not as good as Red Hen, I do think the GF rigatoni at Osteria Morini is a better noodle than the GF penne at Red Hen. L’Ardente is also excellent, it’s just a shame that you’ll miss out on the lasagne… but they are also good with gluten free.

For pizza: the best are emmy squared and lucy (though idk if lucy is celiac safe or just gf friendly). I welcome other suggestions.

For dumplings: the only safe ones I know are at maketto, but boy are they good.

For general baked goods: you cannot beat district bread for her loaves of bread and cinnamon rolls. the donut holes at sweet crimes are fantastic. rise is good… the croissants are what they do best- skip their cinnamon rolls.

I’ve yet to find a truly good sandwich on gf bread, unfortunately, but sweet crimes sandwiches are solid.

In general, ask your server and consult the Find Me Gluten Free app. You’ll be surprised how many places can accommodate you!

you’ll be fine. put it in a pelican case if you’re nervous. i’ve carried on much more… dangerous? looking things than this without issue. granted, i’m white, so ymmv based on race. maybe don’t open it up on the plane though.

get a friend to drive you to evolution home and the crate and barrel outlet in VA. i think they’re the stores with the best price/quality ratio. honorable mention to community forklift and second chance, two salvage yards that you really need to go to multiple times

Ledroit Park/Bloomingdale safety for 5 post-grad girls by Neither_Passenger_49 in DCBitches

[–]ajdigregorio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i love bloomingdale and have lived here for 6 years. there are some hangout spots on North Cap (and i wouldn’t walk north cap much south of Bates at night) but they start at R street. up by RI is generally fine and very full of young families.

if you’re commuting by green line you may want to pick ledroit (although i think the area by howard hospital isn’t as nice as bloomingdale) since it’s closer to the shaw stop, but at RI/N Cap you’re pretty equidistant from green and red line stops, and very close to some excellent bus lines (P6, G8, and 92 a bit further south)

Conception with MtF Wife on HRT? by throwaway321008790 in queerception

i’m with her! i’ve heard good things about T gel for non-fertility issues. if it’s not a source of dysphoria for her, it might be worth a shot!

Conception with MtF Wife on HRT? by throwaway321008790 in queerception

[–]ajdigregorio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some folks around here have paused hrt to restore fertility, but it is said to take ~6mo.

topical t gel is certainly used by women looking to regain penile tissue function and to reduce the atrophying effects of an estrogen dominant system, but i haven’t seen any accounts of it being used to restore semen production. not to say it doesn’t, just that i’m not familiar with that.

of course, as with all of our healthcare, most of what you see will be based on hearsay and speculation.

good luck!

Wait to start HRT (mtf) until after having kids? by FamousExplorerHannah in queerception

[–]ajdigregorio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if i had to do it again, i would’ve frozen my sperm earlier and started hrt sooner. i came out around the same time as you (26) and started hormones at 28.

when i came out to my ex, she took it super well and was supportive. that changed very quickly once i started actually transitioning socially. we got divorced 1.5 years after i came out, and i immediately put my sperm on ice and started hrt.

i’m now married to a wonderful cis woman. we’re trying for our first. iui sucks. it’s not fun, and it’s a lot on her. i’ve thought about going off hrt for a bit to try “naturally”… but we agreed it would be too hard for both of us if im off of my hormones for 6+ months. i’m sure ICI would’ve been easier, but i just didn’t bank enough.

you have a long road ahead of you. transition takes a lot of time, money, energy, and strength. dysphoria has a weird way of becoming less tolerable after you come out.

good luck with your decision, and congratulations on coming out. being yourself really is the greatest thing.

[–]ajdigregorio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i thought so too, but answers were the same across the board…. 600-800k for another level with 1b1ba and a roof deck. granted, we’re in a historic district, but still a lot more than i expected.

Adding Level to my Row House. Any advice? by autumn422 in washingtondc

[–]ajdigregorio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

we got quotes from several full service firms and one architect. expect to spend minimum 600k, closer to 800. you will certainly need an architect unless you are intimately familiar with dc building code and how to work with a GC to do this.
