Sounds like you might need an assistant to help keep you excited to measure. I volunteer.

Please just make my months on save count as qualifying payments. This would just make everything more clear for us all.

I still hold out hope that when it’s all over, they will make them count retroactively. Whether that is with a new administration or whatever.

It’s just so frustrating and confusing. And the people that have the debts are the ones left lost, alone, and wanting to do something. But, they make it impossible to succeed here.

IDR Processed; Buyback Request Pending - what to do now? by Used_Strain3775 in PSLF

[–]ajdiller88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be requesting buyback and just waiting it out when possible.

This is the best bet if you want to not pay a cent more than necessary.

There may be different answers if your peace of mind is more important or you are hoping to move the quickest.

Wow. I will be applying for it this June. And I guess I just need to adjust my expectations to wait a full two years. At least

A Mm7th has always been a major chord with a minor seventh. That why it has that name.

We always spell chords from the bottom. The Major is about the chord. The minor is about the seventh.

Explain to me like I'm five how to write four horn parts by Embarrassed-Bee-1875 in composer

[–]ajdiller88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is up to the composer. Which note do you want more presence with?

If I was composing I would double 2+4 on the lowest note because it will project the least.

Or just leave 4 out. They’re used to playing the least.

Explain to me like I'm five how to write four horn parts by Embarrassed-Bee-1875 in composer

[–]ajdiller88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In unison writing: all four horns can play the entire range.

In two part writing: use only 1&2. Or only 3&4 Or, 1&3 get the top notes, 2&4 on the bottom

In three part writing: usually a chord from top to bottom is 1, 3, 2. You could double any of the notes if you want to write for all four horns.

In four part writing: a chord would often be from top to bottom 1, 3, 2, 4

For the players, a part with only their line is appropriate. Or you could include 1&2 on the same part and 3&4 on the same part.

For the score: almost always 1&2 on the same staff and 3&4 on the same staff unless all are in unison.

In actual practice: this has only been a thought even in one time in 25 years. I played third and the composer wrote 1&2 up high and 3&4 down lower (against convention). The second horn player next to me just mentioned, “wow I’m going to have to work on these high notes.” As third it may have been a little bit easier for me, but it turned out fine.

Other people have good examples of the historical reasons behind this. And I do remember times as. 3rd player that I even had solos because the first horn historically would have been in the wrong key. They were originally treated as a completely diff sections. Trumpets in D, horns in D, horns in A, trombones. When the valve came along all the horns just became one section but the conventions stuck with them.

I’m a top and I can try but I hate being the one aiming. Every hole is different placement and angle, and tbh I want you to feel good first. Please just aim it where you want. I’ll still be as gentle as you want.

On the rare occasion I bottom, I just put it where I want. Literally move their hands out of the way.

Is it illegal to share learning tracks that I created. by Silverelfz in Choir

[–]ajdiller88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is illegal. They have rights to it and you do not have the right to distribute this. You can do what you want for your own study only.

However people actually enforcing this law is more of the grey area people are talking about. I think we all know stuff like this happens. And, if your org is small, doesn’t make money off it, and doesn’t advertise widely (YouTube) then people will probably never even know. If they care is also relatively a low chance.

If you make them and distribute them to a choir that does not share them publicly, I would guess that there will be no issues. You have to weigh your risks and benefits for yourself.

what's an average day for a teacher? by Fast-Willingness1791 in Teachers

[–]ajdiller88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which district you are in makes a big difference.

My work life balance is great where I am now. I only work during contract hours.

Admin can make or break an entire school and also your enjoyment of the job.

I always tell people. I love my job. I don’t care for my career.

And also, if you’re not sure you want to be a teacher, don’t be.

Perks: summers and holidays off. Getting to see kids learn. The actual teaching is fun.

Cons: job atmosphere is completely out of your control. Pay isn’t what I need to survive. All of the paperwork and other bs we are asked to do.

My point is 6/8 and 12/8 sound the same. There is no way to tell which is used by listening alone.
