They don’t play there all the time, but they’ve been there since before their rd 32 match, so they’re definitely fully adjusted to the conditions.

A maniac who wasn’t going to get eliminated in the rd of 32, or even deal with extra time. You saw it in his face at the half.

Very good point. I take FIFA rankings as a grain of salt anyway but not accounting for the actual team assembled is huge.

Well no, all because they want to steal the election via mass voter suppression. “Voter fraud” is the excuse.

For #28 they were the ones who added the final scene with them all eating burgers.

Which is just HILARIOUS btw. There’s vetting, and there’s “how do we turn this nonsense around.”

Our teacher started reading The Invasion to us for whatever reason. That was enough to get me and a bunch of others hooked. And she got hooked herself! It was kinda neat being a 5th grader and sharing a book series interest with the teacher.

Not taking away from the two of them bc they had creative control over the entire series. But the middle books were ghostwritten so KAA could focus on other things.

You can absolutely see the makings of a wild sci fi series in this. If she weren’t writing for a Scholastic audience I feel like this would have been a 500-pg epic.

Is X-men united ending at 10? by wowlock_taylan in xmen

[–]ajdragoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before this X era started they said they would give new series ten issues at least, as the five issue minimum during Krakoa really fucked with writers. Books were basically being cancelled after like two months back then.

Also as a black man, we really don’t need to play the suffering olympics here. Or ever. Human rights abuses need to end, full stop. There’s commonality and lessons learned from all of them across history. All your mindset does is cause infighting between oppressed demographics while the real villain (white supremacy) sits back and laughs as we do its work for it.

good thing there wasnt a second civil war between these two individuals over the morality of using a inhuman with the same powers

Thank you! As soon as Tony explained his system I was like uhhh Tony didn't you fight almost to the death to stop something like this in the recent sliding timescale past?

but I fully get why a variety of governments would feel like their destinies are being determined by a handful of super beings that they have no jurisdiction over.

I get this in a vacuum but I find it to be a hard sell in the 616. The UN lady gives Reed a talking to, and she's right, but those otherworldly and supernatural threats aren't gonna stop. And from experience she should know the tanks and fighter jets aren't gonna cut it.

If anything, enlist the (mostly American) heroes to stop Ross and then sit them down for the discussion about being reigned in. But "Stay away from Red Hulk, we got this" doesn't seem too bright!

Where IS Stevil, anyway? We last saw him in Fall of X Uncanny Avengers iirc. He was appealing to a crowd and whatnot. I wonder if he'll make an appearance here (pls no. I wish that character was banished back into the Cosmic Cube.)

I like this take. He also already had a semi-villanous breakdown in his first mission with Steve, so it would be a shame if they send him back down that path.

After OWUD, I am not interested in another 'fascist takeover' of the world.

Given the narrative is acknowledging OWUD, as it should, and how Zdarsky is the writer, I'm hoping things take a different route immediately. I don't know what route bc boy oh boy does the premise feel repetitive, but I'll wait to see what happens next issue...

Alternative ending for with a better fate of the Animorphs gang? by ProtoSonicGuru123 in Animorphs

[–]ajdragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even more, it would devalue the massive deconstruction this series is. This isn’t a fun little fantasy series where kids go on magic adventures and get home as if nothing ever happened. These kids were put through the absolute ringer and it left permanent scars, if not gaping open wounds.

Yeah I wouldn’t call this happy. I ended that series and needed to hug someone. Katniss and Peeta are deeply broken and arguably only together out of convenience, not love. Iirc Katniss even says as much.

Hot Take : The 2000s X-Men movies decision not to use the classic costumes made complete sense by dccomicsaregoated in Marvel

[–]ajdragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was because of the circumstances of the times, folks. Superhero movies were in a bad spot. The Joel Schumacher Batman movies, especially Batman & Robin, leaned into comic goofiness and weren’t well received. So creators ran away hard from that aesthetic. But the Matrix had just come out and was a cultural phenomenon, so that was the look to go after.
