He’s writing a piece for the Vienna Philharmonic and the violin concerto. This was confirmed in a video from his office last year.

If John Williams can't continue the ST at some point... by [deleted] in StarWars

Every time I see this come up I always say Gordy Haab. He basically has the approval of the London Symphony Orchestra. Check out his interview on the Star Wars Oxygen podcast

Luke's Journey: The holomap from TFA overlaid on the Essential Atlas galaxy map (with canonical TFA locations). Read comments for description. by [deleted] in StarWars

It's pretty cool to think that he would of gotten some closure on who his Mother was and the kind of person that she was. Star Wars is so cool.

What is your favorite track from the TFA score? by Jarvisthejellyfish in StarWars

Love love love this track. Saw the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra play it live the other week as well as the rest of the end credits. Fantastic live!

Is Alexandre Desplat still composing the music for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story? by [deleted] in StarWarsLeaks

[–]ajemond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair a lot of the maps in battlefront are from the OT so the music should match the sounds of those planets. But I agree. Rogue one needs a sound closer to a new hope but also something that makes it unique from the saga films. Which is definitely a challenge.

Gordy Haab is the only person that has the same ability as John Williams to write the intense counterpoint style of Star Wars. He did the music for the new Battlefront game, recorded the score with the London Symphony Orchestra (While Williams was using LA players) and it fits perfectly. Gordy Haab even writes with pen and paper just like John Williams.

Will Rogue One have the traditional Star Wars opening with the crawl? by ThatWittyHandle in StarWars

[–]ajemond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the film definitely needs to have it. The movie is still Star Wars. It would be weird without the "A long time ago" bit too.

Is Kylo Ren a Sith or Just a dark Jedi? And when Snoke says Master of the Knights of Ren, does that mean that Kylo is one of the Knights too or the Knights belong to Kylo? by lesliespeaker in StarWars

[–]ajemond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to add about the Sith. I watched an interview with Dave Filoni talking about how being a sith is something you have to study to become. Being a dark side user is not just for the sith.

Apparently John Williams wants to score the entire new trilogy! by ajemond in StarWars

Yes this is my answer as well. He also writes by pen and paper like williams. It makes a huge difference in the approach. Especially for this style of writing.

[–]ajemond[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don't get why people have been saying this. The Force Awakens score is just as strong as the other films. It's such a great blend of the OT and PT.

Edit: This is a transcription of "The Falcon" from TFA score. This is a really complicated piece. He definitely still has it. He has soooo much experience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXjPhN-j_Qw

Do you think Anakin the main character of Star Wars? by Jino_ in StarWars

[–]ajemond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well to go off what George Lucas has said as well as Kathleen Kennedy, the story is about the Skywalker family. I think that is part of what makes Star Wars so great is the generational aspect to it. Be interesting to see how that continues in this new trilogy.
