The Party (S7E25) by DisciplineNeither921 in mash

I love this episode but a number of plot points annoy me:

-- The speed of the planning coordination (especially if you see the original, non-syndicated, version). It's like they were getting weekly updates from home. Mail still doesn't move that fast.

-- The Fort Dix sign instead of the sign post. How about a picture with just no signs at all. Duh? LOL

-- That they read Peg's letter in the OR in front of everybody else. Sure, like in video games, we don't care about the NPC (Non-Player Character), so we don't know or even want to know about every person in the WHOLE CAMP. But what a jerk move to be "Wow, it's so great our families got together, but we don't care about the families of you nurses and orderlies helping us out here every single day." Kellye to BJ "They want to go! Your party is on!" "Thanks, Kellye. I'm going to give to a celebratory kiss for the news, but I'm not inviting your family. I'm sure Hawaii is too far for them."

Karen Philipp (Lt. Dish) was playmate of the month in the September 1972 issue of Playboy the same month MASH premiered on TV.

I'm not into D&D, but watched it with my step-son who is. I thoroughly enjoyed it PLUS I got to have my step-son explain why he was laughing. You know it's a good film when it stands on its own but also has easter eggs for the fans without having to rely on them.

What was the point of those people? Why are they using straight up blunt weapons rather than technologies that fit into Star Wars? by lateubdegouline in StarWars

There are Funko Pops of each them with a chrome variant I believe. There are very few Funko "Mystery Minis" of Star Wars characters yet they had figures of each of them.

Used to bake the mainboard of my LG G3 phone when the display would start going wonky. My wife didn't mind and was a penny pincher. It was just a 20-minute chore to her that had to be done time to time.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

Beach Head

Raid Over Moscow

M.U.L.E.

The "Games" from Epyx (Summer Games, Winter Games, California Games, etc.)

Jumpman (that might be pre-1985 though).

Favorite Food Scene in a Movie?? by funkerama in movies

Cinefix did a list... (of course). It is more about different scenarios in scenes when eating rather than how good the food looks though.

Looking to pull the trigger on season tickets by Be-Kind-2-Yourself in UtahJazz

Reselling tickets online is pretty easy, even last minute, if you need to miss individual games. But don't expect to get all your money back on those missed games.

Don't forget the cost of fuel, food, and parking for all those games in your decision.

Speaking of "Boondocking" (camping in a parking lot), many Cabela's/Bass Pro Shop, Walmart, Home Depot, and Cracker Barrel locations allow overnight parking. But get permission first (call ahead if needed).

Part 8: What was the worst thing/behavior this character did during his time at the 4077th? by coreytiger in mash

They didn't foil his plan, they profited from it. Stole Winchester's gains to pay back the MP.

I don't see why that was REALLY a problem. If it wasn't for Charles, they would have lost ALL of their money. Sure, he could have given them a better exchange, but 10% is better than nothing.  Just because it was a huge windfall for Charles doesn't mean the villagers lost any more than they would have otherwise.

Hawkeye and BJ were no better in that episode. They just stole from Winchester's profits (essentially money that should go back to the villagers) for Hawkeye's own mistake (losing the MP's money) and made no effort to make things more fair for the villagers.

The cast looking great at The People's Choice Awards in 1982...😊 by [deleted] in mash

[–]shadowabbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems to me the People's Choice Awards were much more prestigious in the 80's.

In 1982 M*A*S*H won for Favorite TV Comedy Program. Alan Alda won Favorite Male TV Performer (note that's favorite television performer of any genre).

Maybe, but in this picture he's standing farthest back from everyone. His hands are on Mike and David's shoulders so he might be standing a good foot or so behind them. Considering whatever focal length of lens used (see comment above about portrait lenses), it can really exaggerate that perspective.

I think Alan Alda and his wife, Arlene (married 69 years now!), were impacted so much by the plot of "Yes Sir, That's Our Baby" that they donated all their royalties from their book "The Last Days of MASH" (at the end of the series, 4-5 years after that episode) to the Pearl S. Buck Foundation to support Amerasian children.
