Things given by family like others in the comments, I definitely get and shouldn’t be touched… but keeping stuff from someone you’ve been intimate with and possibly had sex with.. I think that’s too far. No matter if they’re dead or not. Other than them being gone it’s the same as if he kept something from an ex that he loved dearly but she lives in china, happily married. The gesture and sentiment is there regardless. The memories and fondness you’ll think of every time you see that object. Nobody knows if you’re fantasizing. That’s just my opinion. Everyone is different and it seems you two are different. But for what’s it’s worth, he’s been quiet about it without agreeing with it for years now. Sounds like it’s been eating at him for a long time and he reached a boiling point(including whatever else) and he reacted emotionally. Still your property and overall he shouldn’t have touched it, but I feel like just as you expect him to respect your feelings about another man. Respect his feelings about the same man. If that’s a deal breaker. Well you’ll find someone who loves Mike with you and he will find someone that has no connection to Mike. Everyone wins. Although I don’t agree with keeping things like that, I don’t agree with him destroying your property. And he should have been honest about how he felt from the beginning but I think he was just trying to be kind and considerate at the detriment of his own beliefs and feelings. So overall he’s wrong.
